I borrowed this book from the library today and have briefly read through it once and can't wait to re-read it and really take it all in!

Its a lovely book, and has really inspired me. It has really made me want to dress up and really embrace my femininity!

We don't have Mad Men on regular (cable is not that big here - we still primarily all watch free to air channels) TV here in Aus, (I have requested the first season on DVD from the library too), but I can tell from everything I have seen/read, I am a Betty Draper, so I found it really interesting when they discussed her looks.

So, if you love the fashions of Mad Men, I'd suspect you'll like this book too - there's even a chapter on Men's wear!

I've now added this to my list of books that I've borrowed from the library but want to buy!

Theresa, funny enough I just got this as a birthday present from my mom this weekend. It's such a fun book, and the illustrations are beautiful.

I look forward to your reaction to the series once you are able to get your hands on the DVDs!

Oh Kari wow - what a fabulous birthday gift!!!

The illustrations are just gorgeous aren't they! I just want to look at the pictures all day LOL Even my girls want to look at "Mummy's book with the pretty pictures" in it!

I'm #2 on the wait list for the DVD's, so it will be at least 3-4 weeks before I get it If I get impatient and lots of money for christmas I may just buy the discs - I can't see me not loving it!!

How fun, Theresa. I hope that some sweet Santa gifts you with the discs for Christmas, but if not, that's great that you are at least close to getting yours at the library. Let us know what you think when you get them!

You're lucky that you are able to keep DVDs for 3 weeks! Our library only lets us keep DVDs for a week - and we get a whole season at once - so I end up doing crazy things like having a week straight marathon of Dexter episodes before I have to give the discs back.

I'm still waiting for the DVD's - 3 more weeks apparently according to the library website.

But, Angie I am a Betty fan through and through - everything about her style I just adore!

Speaking of DVD series and Australia.... I watched a DVD series a few years back given to me by a friend of mine in Australia called "Kath and Kim" or "Kim and Kath" and have not laughed so hard since! We stayed up all night watching them back to back.

I love the way Betty looks, but I can't hack her as a character. She's cold. There was one episode when she was in Rome and I gasped when I saw her amazing sixties mod look. I love the men's suits as well.

I love Roger Sterling, he makes me laugh. Also, I find myself always hoping that Peggy comes out on top. It's such a good show.

I tried to watch the show and there was too much infidelity for me. So I'm glad there is a book! LOL I might need to add that to my Amazon wish list.

hehehe Wilson - Kath and Kim - yes an absolutely hilarious series!!! I usual bust my seams laughing!!! Of course, we Aussies aren't all quite like that... although I must admit, there are a lot who are!

I can't wait to get the DVD's and actually see the characters personalities now - images are one thing! I checked and I'm still a few weeks away from getting them so I'm getting impatient - library should buy another copy just for me LOL

I loved Kath and Kim too! It is great that you got to watch the Australian original rather than the US version, which I understand is not as funny.

I adore Joan's sass and style (no surprise), but Peggy is really my favorite.

And I LOVE just about every line that comes out of Roger's mouth. They give him some serious zingers.

I used to love Kath and Kim - I had their dvds....but I wont be aspiring to their fashion or style sense!

I just finished the first season through Netflix and am eagerly anticipating the second. I really love Betty's clothes (but character-wise I LOVE Joan and just ordered a pen necklace for myself). As much as I adore the fashion of the Mad Men era and wish people would dress up more these days, I can't help but feel a tremendous amount of relief that we aren't expected to wear such extreme undergarments everyday. I will definitely check out that book; I am a sucker for fashion illustrations.
