Bone Shoes in February?

I am attending my husbands Microsoft party tomorrow evening in Seattle (rainy). I am wearing a dark red cocktail dress (the Genius Dress from WHBM) and have broken my toenail in half. I have plenty of peeptoe or sandals to wear cocktail style but now I need closed toe pumps.

Would a pair of sniptoe, bone pumps (Fitzwell, med. heel) look OK with a dark red dress in February? I am 47 years old. My husband will likely be wearing a tux (he loves to dress up) that makes me feel like the shoes will be too casual.

Any suggestions would be great - I might just see if the nail salon can do some creative gluing and go with a gold sandal.

Sure, why not? Bone is a classic shoe color and it should be nice with red. Is your concern that the style of the pumps isn't dressy enough?

I'm sorry to hear about your toe, Juliamay, I hope it heals quickly.
Unless the style of the bone pumps is super casual, I think they could work. Especially if you are able to add another touch of bone or cream to the outfit for more visual outfit coherence.
(the way Angie paired her r ed trousers with a white shirt and white footwear here.)
Perhaps a cream clutch or a (pearl) necklace if that works with your dress?

How about wearing some strappier shoes and just put a bandage on the offending toe?

I kind of like MsMary's advice especially because this might give shy-er people an in with you conversationally..the dress is long so most people will miss the toe visual anyway.
I don't think the shoes would be terrible but the style doesn't really suit the dress and the event sounds like kind of a big deal. There's no harm in investigating the creative nail salon solution as long as you don't risk somehow hurting yourself more. If that doesn't work out, I'd go with the sandals and a bandage. Things happen.

As long as the pumps are dressy enough I think you'll be fine. I like Inge's suggestion of having a touch of bone elsewhere in your outfit. I also see no problem with wearing a bandage with your strappier shoes, especially if you already own the strappy shoes and would have to go out and purchase a pair of dressy pumps for the event.

Stuff happens (I should know, I spent the better part of the last year dressing around two foot surgeries and wearing what I called "Frankenboot") and I just dress around the stuff.

Ouchy! I'd probably go with stick-on nails, because I'd want the fashion fix to come off easy. Or the band-aid.

I think any of these solutions could work--I especially like Inge's idea of adding an element to pick up the shoe color if you go with the pumps. I'd wear whatever is most comfortable with the toe. Anyway, have fun, and maybe you can post a picture of your party outfit for us!
