Bomber jacket @ 40

Hi just wondering has anyone worn a bomber jacket over 40 ? Got one in the sale but not sure if it's to young a look or not it's only to replace my day to day one that fell apart until I find something better but don't want to look like I'm trying to dress like a teen. Any input welcome. Also how did you style it?

All the time I think it's footwear where you need to show your dignity...

Yes! I'm 52 and here's my pink silk floral one that I made for myself earlier this year. Choose a darker shade bomber, wear over a modern sweater, add dark was jeans and booties and you're set.

I think it's an ageless style. I'm having a hard time thinking of how it could look too young for anyone. I especially like the burgundy one--what a gorgeous color, and an unusual take on the trend.

Bomber jackets do not have an age restriction. I do think the fit needs to be just right, though. Perhaps we can see these on?

I am loooooong past 40, and I bought one early in the fall. I needed something for a trip. Was just walking thru TJMaxx and saw this olive bomber. It has snap closure pockets, warm enough for the temps where I was going, not expensive, and so practical for my needs for running my dog on the beach in early mornings and evenings. In the mornings I just put it on with sweats or whatever. I ended up wearing it a lot with jeans, sneakers and also with casual booties. So far since I have been home it has been too warm for it, but will continue to wear it.

I think in some places like NYC they wear leather jackets well into old age. It's always the attitude, not the age, I think.

It has never occurred to me that bomber jackets might have a *sell by* date. I'm 63.5, and I plan to try the two bomber jackets below on my Nordstrom 10 Points day.

FWIW, about the only things I avoid are those short skater skirts, short fit'n'flare dresses, and clubbing clothes because I don't club and have never worn short, tight clothing in my life and don't plan to start now.

Don't get sucked down into the mother-of-small-children-forever vortex, Shaz. Bombers are for everyone. I am ten years older than that, and wore my (now disappeared from finds) silver metallic Zara bomber earlier this week.

I weren't sure as I had not seen anyone wear one here apart from one of my sons friends a few days ago after I'd already ordered mine. You ladies have some lovely ones makes me wish I'd gone for a pretty one now but mines only for nipping to the shop and putting the bins out so it will that job

an over 50 here....i have 2, a heavier weight one that i wear as outwear and a lightweight one that is a blazer alternative....i find them both a resfreshing update.

70 here and I love bomber jackets. I own two lined lace versions and would love more. I have no plans to stop wearing them.

A bomber is a great way to add tons of style to any outfit, especially more conventional ones. A great tool for women after 40 who, I think, benefit from an atypical element, but are not necessarily interested in plunging décolletés and leg exposure. Pair it with booties, a pencil skirt, a cute, quality tee and voilà. I am almost 50, and like to wear bombers - they complement high waist jeans and office straight slacks. I find they pair well with flat footwear such as flat pointy booties and ballerinas.

I particularly like the black one on you. I think it could be very versatile. I personally see bomber jackets (and moto jackets) as being classic and ageless. I am 59 and wear them all the time.
