Boden Sizing

I am thinking of placing an order with BodenUSA and am wondering about their sizing. I am an IT and usually wear an 8 or M in tops. Any experiences with ease of shipping and returns/exchanges welcome too.

I love Boden. I do find a lot of the skirts and dresses are too straight of a cut for me (I am a little bottom heavy) but I think their quality is good.

I wear a 4 or 6 in most items from J Crew, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, etc and find I need to size up a bit to a 6 or 8 in most items from Boden. They do have actual garment measurements on all items and I find those to be very helpful.

I have had no issues with shipping, returns or exchanges and think their customer service is wonderful.

This fall I purchased the Colette dress, Libby dress and the Pretty Cashmere Sweater and have been very pleased with them.

I have tried ordering shoes and they are more hit and miss as sizing is very inconsistent.

I agree with Snowqueen - I'm usually a size 4 with Ann Taylor and Banana Republic, but a 6 with Boden. Their website is very good with providing measurements and I feel pretty secure in going by that.

What the others said. I have ordered tops and dresses from Boden and am one size up from JCrew, BR, etc. I would say the quality is comparable to J Crew. Have not tried to return/exchange.

I would recommend you pay close attention to the garment measurements. You may end up needing different sizes in different items. I am consistently around the size I normally wear.

I have made returns with Boden & it has been easy. I like the clothes I purchased from there.

I've tried only a few jackets from Boden, but I would agree with the input above -- for me, size up unless reviews suggest the item runs large. (I'm usually a 6P or MP in J. Crew and Ann Taylor, "full hourglass" shading into IT range; took 6P in the Fifties Jacket, felt 6P in the City Wool Jacket was too small, will soon be comparing 6P and 8P in the British Tweed Blazer). Shipping was kind of on the slow side, as were returns, but at least I had a promotion that included free return postage. Ironically, the item that was shipping from the UK arrived before the ones being shipped from the U.S.

BTW I've found out about some promos I wouldn't have known about through this blog (http://mysuperfluities.blogspot.com/), such as a code for 20% off their spring 2014 preview. It seems to me that some popular items run out before they ever get close to sale, so I ended up ordering something from the preview, which is something I ordinarily never do for retailers like J. Crew. Shipping in nine weeks...talk about delayed gratification! (FWIW, I read somewhere else that preview items ship from the UK and therefore may arrive later than items ordered from the regular launch in the U.S.)

ETA: I was curious about my recollection that some things took their time getting to me. For an order placed late on a Tuesday night, one item left the UK on Thursday, and the other two left the U.S. warehouse on Sunday. Another order, placed over breakfast on a Monday morning, was scanned in by UPS the next evening.
