Boden Beatrice dress K/R?

I really liked the look of the Boden Beatrice knitted dress that Angie posted in her Weekly Roundup of transitionaliItems last month. Angie said the dress was best on a curvy figure with a defined waist. This is quite the opposite of my body (inverted triangle and somewhat rectangular with no real waist), but I decided to try it anyway with Boden's free shipping and free returns. I tried it on yesterday and my husband's first response was "that's different." I asked him numerous times if he thought it looked OK, but he was very non-committal. So --- I took a couple of photos of me in the dress and would appreciate any feedback on whether it works on me or not. The last photo is from Boden's website. Thanks!

I think it looks good on you. How do you feel in it? Is the waistline comfortable for you? You can do a sit down test to find out. I also like that the shape of the dress is good for sitting without fussing like with a sheath dress.
I have a long torso and the waistline of many dresses digs into my lower ribs.
The dress is flattering on you but you need to figure out what is holding you back.

Look at how that dress GIVES you curves, which is why it also works well on a curvy figure.

Thanks, Joyce. I actually quite like the dress. It is very comfortable and "roomy" enough that I don't feel body conscious in it. It was my husband's reaction that made me wonder if the dress didn't do anything for me.

I think you look amazing in it! It's very well-designed, which is why it works. If you don't wear this sort of cut or bold color statement often, it might be why your husband reacted so. He's just not sure what to make of it.

Looks better on you than the model. Husbands are sometimes funny, my DH doesn't like everthing I wear, but I don't like everyting he wears either, If it make you feel good wear it.

I love it on you, but of course you have to love it to wear it. And if you DH has planted a seed of doubt it can taint your feeling (been there).

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I do wear bright colors in the summer, but (sadly) tend to wear a lot of dark and solid colors in the fall and winter, so maybe that was throwing my husband off. I love that it's fun, comfortable, and has sleeves.

Viva - I am usually a size 6 in Boden tops. I ordered both a 6 petite and 6 regular as I wasn't sure how long the dress would be (the model photo made me think it might run on the short side). The petite 6 fit the best on me as far as length. As far as what hosiery and shoes/boots... I need to think about that next!

The dress is hot! It is, tho, covered up. I suspect this is what DH notices. Men, I feel, like to see open collars... but not too open, mind. Just a peek of collar bone. Lol. No, I'm not sexist at all

Rachy said it for me. Think the neckline could be a bit high for him especially as the collarbones are showing on the model, too-BUT, to me it looks good, and it is a great dress for cooler weathers, pls. keep!:-))

This is fabulous on you! I suspect it's just enough outside of your usual choices that DH finds it unexpected. That is, of course, exactly the reason it's fabulous (along with the fact that it flatters you)! I think it's unique without being too "fashiony," which is a great thing.

I have a pretty rectangular figure as well and I love dresses like this that create curves. You've inspired me to go look at the product myself!
