Inspired by Angie and others extolling the quality of Boden, I ordered a few items. Only one is going back, a record for me! I thought I'd review some basic items, as these can be hard to find (or they are for me!). I'm 5' 8" with a long torso, average legs, and hips about 10" wider than waist, so all these things can make fit challenging. Generally a UK 6-8 on top and a 10-12 in pants.
Boden turtle neck- I bought the blue and white as this is a wardrobe basic for me, under high necked jumpers. This is a robust cotton mix, not a thin fabric, and has enough drape to be forgiving of bulges without being bulky- the fabric weight and drape mean it can be worn on its own. Best of all, a long torso, so plenty of room to tuck in.
Trafalgar straight leg jeans- I bought these in 12 long, as I like a full break. I have the vintage and dark navy washes. A solid denim with a bit of stretch, these are definitely jeans for cooler temperatures. These fit very well on me, coping with my waist-hip difference without any need to tailor. The rise is medium on me, and the straight leg balances out my hips well, without being voluminous.
Hampshire Ponte trousers- based on reviews which said these run larger, I bought these in a 10R. They fit well in terms of waist and length, but 'grab' in an unflattering manner over my thighs, so I need to get a 12 and tailor the waist. The fabric is dense, so good in cooler weather, but unlined.
