Blue sweater strikes again...

I have asked for K/R advice here on a blue Gap sweater some days ago. Wise Gaylene suggested to try Large Regular to compare. I returned Large Tall (too long) and here I have Medium Tall and Large Regular for your review again, ladies.

Medium Tall is on the left
Large Regular is on the right

Which is the right fit for me?

I definitely like the medium tall best. The one on the right just looks too big. Gorgeous sweater!

Both look good to my eye; it just depends on how you like to fit your drapey sweater. I know I liked the looser fit of the L when I tried on my sweater because the hi/low hem didn't cling to my hips like a regular banded sweater and the whole sweater seemed to fall away from my body instead of molding to it. I'm personally finding the fluid, drapey looks a refreshing change from all my more closely fitted clothes, but I might be in a minority here. For what it's worth, I also think that draping often looks better in real life than in a static picture.

I like the one on the right - it drapes without wrinkles which looks more fluid to my eye. I don't think it's too big. But I am and always have been team oversized....

ETA: Or what Gaylene said, now that I've read it.

Another vote for medium tall. It's a nice fit without being fitted and still provides a long leg line. The other size shortens your leg line.

I like the Medium Tall. I think that the lesser depth of the V-neck is more flattering on you in that version. I think it also flatters your bust more.

I prefer the large regular because it fits you perfectly across the high bust. The one on the left is pulling by comparison.

I wanted to say the right one, which makes it L reg. It looks more drapey.

Then I read other comments.

I really am clueless about this fit. It seems to be down to personal preference more than anything.

I'm torn, Sveta. I like the fit of the medium tall around the shoulders, and it looks great from the front. But I like the drape of the large one from behind.

Una and Gaylene are ITs so they get that kind of drape more easily and effortlessly in the hip area. All they have to do is fit their shoulders and voila!

I thought exactly what Suz said. This is a really common fit dilemma for me too. I think either looks good, really -- it's a judgment call. I tend to give the edge to whichever size looks best from the front, which usually means the slightly smaller size.

I like the ease and drape of the Large Regular. The Medium Tall seems to fit you better in the shoulder area (as Suz said) but has a slightly more fitted look. Beth Ann has a good point… is there any chance of shrinkage? If so, I would definitely go with the Large Regular. I think this is going to come down to personal preference… i.e. -- how fluid you want it to be.

I like either of them! I think I would go with the large, just because any shrinkage will not be noticeable.

I like the large, both fits work, but the large has slightly more drape to it, and with this type of hemline I prefer more drape.

I'm with Alaskagirl on this one. The large regular drapes so nicely front and back. It's really close, though! I am glad you are getting this color. It's lovely.

See why I cannot decide - you opinions are almost equally split too!
I looked again on the model and I think the sweater fits her similar to L Regular on me...
It is also a good point about the potential shrinkage: have not thought about it. Unfortunately there is no way to find out BEFORE I cut off the tag!

AJ, these are Vince Camuto loafers from last year NAS - I cannot find them at Nordstrom anymore but I think this is the same model in a different color.

I'm totally confused. They both look great, but different. The medium tall is a more conventional fit, but the large regular is trendier. It will be interesting to see what Angie says.
