Blue or Green? Small update. - YouLookFab Forum

I am looking for some bright sandals for summer - that I could wear casually but also with a bit of polish (so I could wear to work).

I have been thinking of kelly green or cobalt - I haven't quite seen the right pair until today when I received an email about the pair below.

Attached is my current sandal collection, from casual to dressy. Aside from the jade heels, they are all neutral.

I have also attached my colourful summer dresses and skirts - I also have neutrals in navy, white, black, blush, denim etc..

I am wanting to start a small capsule of one of these colours - I don't have anything in either (aside from my new swimsuit).

I am comfortable in bright colours, both all over or as an accessory only. I don't think either pair would go with many of my brights (see finds) except for the shirt dress. But as all my other sandals are neutrals I have options for these pieces.

I don't need a lot for summer but my list is
- bright sandals
- white pants
- bright top to match sandals
- maybe shorts/pants/skirt in same colour for the co-ord look that seems to be trending at the moment.

My concern is that I buy the expensive sandals and then struggle to get a close enough match in a top and or skirt or pants.

Do you see the green or blue on me, and do you think I should go ahead? What do you think of this style?

I would pick the green for you, and yes, I absolutely see you getting good use out of them.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either colour, especially if you don’t need to absolutely match the colour. Since I have been on a mission to add blue and cobalt into my wardrobe, I have seen cobalt tops and jackets available in the Australian retail, so I think that they will be easier to find.

Green for you, for sure. Don’t fret overmuch with an exact match in a top, because ‘close enough’ will work when there is the space of pants or skirt between the two.

Okay - I think they may be instore locally as well so I will investigate. I need to think of it as the start of a capsule - because I have been more on a pinks/oranges/rusts kick over the last few years. But a few of my pieces are potentially on their last season so it's a good time to lean in a different way.

I think the greens would actually work great with a lot of your brights. You don't need a perfect match (where there is green in a pattern); it will work quite well even if the greens are a bit different. Greens also marry well if there is yellow or blue in a pattern, IMO. Plus, this green is fresh and trending. I'd go for it!

I vote green. I once had some green short boots and miss them. They went with everything. What color are your eyes. I see they are green. Wear as much green as you can. The green sandals can be worn with any green or any color. Enjoy.

Here to add -- this is a super flattering style with that diagonal strap. Warning, though -- make sure they stay on your foot. I had a pair of sandals with this type of strap some years ago and could not keep them on, especially because they lacked a buckle on the back so could not be tightened on the heel. My feet are notorious for this, of course, but I suspect it might affect others, too -- it's a bit like a slingback in that regard.

Honestly these days I feel like anything goes, no need to match. Or you might try to find multicolored sandals—- those can be really useful.

I think I would go green for you. I guess my only hesitation is you already have those other green shoes?
The clothes you have been attracted to have been green more than blue I feel, as a new direction?
What is the brand? I like the looks of the blue myself! Mind you I like the looks of too many shoes

My first thought was green but I think the blue would work really well with your wardrobe items. I’d go for whichever one speaks to you the most.

Nice looking sandals.l am all for a pop of colour in the summer.I don’t think you need to worry about an exact match as long as the colours tone with each other.l think the green are winning the poll so far !

Thanks all. I am going to look at my summer clothes today and see where I am sitting - I really like both but green has been speaking to me lately. Blue would probably be slightly easier though.

Jenni - they are a Mi Piaci collaboration with Kate Sylvester. They are not in store here - only in a couple of their branches.

Oh very nice! I just looked them up. I like that the heel is not too high, that would make them do-able for me. I find it is difficult to get attractive dressy sandals that are not high.

They are both really pretty and I think either would be a wonderful addition.

I had a couple of hours at a mall yesterday waiting fit my car to get new brake pads. It’s our cities largest busiest mall - but I prefer the smaller inner city one so I don’t often go to this uburbsn one.

I checked out lots of mall stores. There was lots of grass green, and Kelly green, and vibrant blues. The green pieces actually didn’t appeal in person - they were cheap and low quality - and there was an overdose.

So before buying expensive sandals I am going to pause…..

I am not much of a mall shopper - and I was exhausted after a stressful week - and cross about purchasing a very disappointing lunch and coffee…so this could have put me off.

With malls I am best if I pop in to one store to try something I have seen online. The mall trawl I find claustrophobic!

Personally, I like the green, but I hear you about having your bubble burst a bit byseeing the colorful pieces in person. I have faith you'll stumble across something that calls to you and you'll know the right move. No need to push it.

I must say I am really lucky to have a small mall ( in Milford on the North Shore) near me which means I don’t need to trawl through the bigger Westfield ones. And I like trawling the small one because it has a lot of lovely clothes shops. I agree that a large one can be tiring!
Taking a pause sounds good. A power pause!

If in doubt, wait it out. You might end up wanting something completely different. I dislike the mall, too. I go to Macy’s but enter from the parking lot and almost never go in the mall itself.
