Sad email from the family of Brenda Kinsel, a blogger I have followed for years. I've copied it here because it hasn't yet been posted on her website. I'm so sorry to read this--she seemed so alive and positive, as well as a great example of a "woman of a certain age."

Dear Friends,

It’s with the heaviest heart that we are writing this to you. This past Sunday we said goodbye to our beautiful, courageous, creative, ambitious, and, of course, stylish mother, Brenda. Her last moments were surrounded with the deepest love from her partner Russ, her three children Trevor, Erin and Caitlin, and her brothers Brent and Kirk. She passed peacefully and with grace.

Her passing was unexpected, the result of a new medication that had a devastating side effect. We are in total disbelief, as I’m sure all of you are also. Suddenly dealing with the grief of losing our mother has been a tremendous shock.

As you know, Brenda loved writing about fashion, making it relatable and “doable” for her followers, fans, and friends. Her blogs and posts were fun and inspirational. Her writing could make you chuckle in one paragraph and tear up in the next. She put her heart into each and every sentence and held nothing back. And that smile!!!

We are so proud to have had her as our mom. She taught us strength, to love, to be kind, to appreciate music, and to always get dressed. She is one of a kind and irreplaceable, as I’m sure you would agree.

Mommy Foxy, you have spread your love and vibrance to so many communities and touched so many hearts. All of those that you have reached are now reflecting their love back to you.

I was just coming here to post this too. Freakish things happen but it was so shocking. I also had been following her many years and she was so personable and candid in how she shared herself that it feels like we've lost a friend.

So incredibly tragic.

I heard about Brenda's passing yesterday, and could not believe it. So unexpected and a dire loss to her family, friends, and the world of fashion and style.

I've spoken to Brenda a few times, read most of her books, and interviewed her on YLF many years ago. She was such a kind, generous, and positive person. So approachable and non-judgemental. She always made you feel like you mattered when you engaged with her. Always lifting the spirits and confidence of others. Always being supportive and empathetic. We kept in touch on Instagram from time to time. Brenda has certainly left her mark, and will be greatly missed.

My heart goes out to the family. Wishing them strength, peace and support during this very tough time.

I too was shocked when I heard. It's just so sad and tragic. Brenda seemed like such a kind and caring person, devoted to her family. My heart goes out to them.

I was getting ready to post this, too...this is so sad...Brenda was the first fashion writer I read, years and years ago. I corresponded with her several times over specific issues and she always got back to me. This was before the blog trend....she was one of a kind, a joyous, wise and stylish woman. She will be missed....

Sorry to hear of Brenda's tragic death. She was such a kind, positive, creative, enthusiastic and inspirational lady.

Clearly, she was fond of her children, enjoyed life with her partner and loved being a grandmother. We also know how much she loved and missed her parents. She seemed to be a real "family girl," but showed love and kindness to many others.

By the way, she told me that her family came from Scandinavia and that she very much enjoyed being in contact with us who live in this small corner of the world.

Brenda surely will be missed by many. However, it is comforting to know that she now rests in peace, and that we have the assuring hope of meeting her again in God's new world where "death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore."--Revelation 21:3-5.

So sad and shocking. She obviously touched and provided guidance to many people who will miss her and mourn her passing. My heart is with her friends and family. May her memory be a blessing.
