Bless my 78 year old Papa :)

I was wearing my white 20 eyelet Dr. Marten boots over jeans with a dolman sleeve jumper and scarf yesterday - and my Papa says:

"Those are really nice boots, Angelique. They suit you and match your outfit".

Who says a 78 year old man can't appreciate an edgy look. It's *so cute* I can barely stand it.

I have to share a comment that my grandfather often gave about style and fashion: "it suits your peculiar style of beauty." Many would find this off putting or offensive. It has become the highest compliment in our family. Grandfather had amazing taste, loved the women in his life, and always wanted us to feel fab about ourselves. Even though the delivery is quite different, it sounds like like your Papa and Grandfather were kindred spirits.

Compliments from dads always get me *right there.* Your Papa is so sweet -- I absolutely love that he explains why he likes your boots instead of just giving a blanket, "you look nice." Seems like you two share a talent for parsing fashion as well as an eye for hot shoes.

Ahh bless him what a lovely compliment.
My Dad made me laugh the other day, as a child I always wanted unsuitable shoes I remember a particularly long running argument over a pair of white sandals I wanted, he said tan would be better, he got his way in the end but oh how I abused those sandals anyway I came clomping in on Friday night in my Docs and Dad says "my god you've discovered sensible shoes, there'd have been hell to pay if I'd suggested those when you where younger!" So thank you Angie for making me see that sensible shoes can be fab x

Well, my Papa has never had an interest in fashion but he does enjoy well dressed people (blokes and lasses) and has an incredible appreciation for all things quality. I should remind you that it was my late Mum who would NOT let me buy black 20 eyelet docs when I was 19 years old! Now that I've had both black and white for yonks, and Papa likes the white - it does make for an amusing story

compliments from dad are the best. last time i saw my dad i was wearing the nine-west fan print dress and he noticed and asked if it was new. he doesn't see me often enough to have seen all my clothes so i thought it was cute that he noticed it.
