I need some advice, ladies (sorry, I'm always asking for advice, I never seem to be able to offer much )

I am trying to get together a 'socialising capsule' (see my thread here http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....g-capsules . So far I have (shopping my closet here):-

Black fluid wide leg pants
Dark denim jeans (wear these in the daytime, too!)
Black heels
Bright purple heels (love these, bought for a wedding outfit, need to wear them more!)
Black heeled mid-calf boots (only wear these under trousers as mid-calf with a skirt is not a great look for me)
Ivory silk/linen pants (gorgeous, but I am very scared of people drinking red wine/coffee/strongly coloured food when I'm wearing them lol)
Ivory wrap top with pretty fluted sleeves (see picture here http://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/wiw-july-10)
Purple satin short sleeved top
Red ruched and draped sleeveless top
Aqua embellished sleeveless 'shell' type top

I think I need a jacket or two (!) - I am going out in a month or so, and it's going to be cold (I am in the UK, after all!) - but I don't know if I want a black one - it would look fine with the jeans, wouldn't 'exactly' match the black pants, but probably close enough - or would that look 'off'? I wouldn't wear black with the ivory pants (or wear the ivory pants in the October rain!), so I am thinking of them as more of a warm weather capsule.

I was planning to wear my dark denim bootcut jeans, a top (as yet unpurchased!), boots, a blazer and a scarf (have a lot to choose from in my closet).

Any advice? Which of the jackets I've linked to would be best?

I wonder if you'd consider a grey jacket in addition or instead of the black ones? I think it would eliminate the need to "match" your blacks and I think it would be beautiful both with the color of your pieces (dark denim, purple, red, aqua, black and ivory) and complement your soft coloring? I'm new here, so you can take all that with a giant rock of salt :), but it was what my immediate thoughts were when I saw your pretty picture and read those lovely colors.

I never even thought of grey - I am far too 'matchy matchy' and not in a good way.

Kat has a great suggestion. I would also say to add some pattern in if you don't have any patterned items, in at least one element (blouse or jacket).

I have no pattern, apart from the aqua shell, which has embroidery on it. It's very summery, though (I think it's a linen mix) so I wouldn't wear it in October. Everything else is very plain!

Ah. I think something in a pattern or texture would add some richness to the capsule - maybe a grey cropped tweed riding jacket? Here, let me send you off a la Don Quixote!

Great ideas from above, but I think a black blazer is a great wardrobe addition. I really like the detail on the 3rd one. I have a pair of winter white pants I wear out here in Seattle, so as long as you aren't walking a ton or it isn't pouring out, I would say to wear them even in the cooler temps!

I'm trying to build up my jacket wardrobe, too. I think any of the black jackets would be a good choice and endlessly useful. I'd also get a tweed-like/textured one (as Una suggested). These two would give you a good start.

Thanks ladies - now I'm shopping for two jackets

Amy - the ivory pants are a very summery fabric, I think that's what makes me think of them as a warm weather item. Oh, and it rains a lot here ... lol But pants in that colour in a heavier weight fabric would be lovely ....
