The LBD I just got is dry clean only, but I did not let that stop me! Though, I understand the hesitation with being a MOTG.
Still, unless you wear the heck out of the dress and work up a good sweat each time, I can't imagine you would need to dry clean more than once a month. Personally I do not dry clean at all, except my heavy coats. I make do with Dryell or hand washing. Some of the DCO knits I have hand wash very well without wrinkling, but wovens require Dryell. Like Angie, I absolutely *hate* ironing, so I have found a million ways to avoid it. I don't know if you have access to Dryell or another home dry cleaning kit where you are, but it's much kinder to the environment than dry cleaning.
