Blackberry trench/red coat + cognac boots?

Can I wear cognac boots (IE the Star Ling Julians) with the NAS blackberry trench and with my red wool coat (probably with a black top, dark wash skinnies, white watch, black bag)? Colour experts, I need you!

I think you can definitely wear them with the trench. Beautiful combo!!I The red is a bit trickier but that will also likely work. I love when colors are similar like cognac and red. It would be unexpected but mixed with black and maybe another brown and cream would be lovely. I can also visualize an olive green scarf or bag. I am a believer in most things being able to work together with a bit of imagination.

My honest opinion on color:

ALL colors can work together. The more they "clash," the better! The only time I think you need to be careful are when:

-The outfit is monochromatic
-The colors are very close (looks like you just couldn't see clearly when you got dressed)

But even these aren't hard and fast rules and they can be broken regularly in successful ways. They just need extra consideration so it's clear that the effect is intentional.

It all works for me too. I don't prefer things to match. I think an outfit looks more interesting when the colours are all a little off :0)

I also got the cognac instead of the black, because I like the look better with dark denim. I also wanted something that would contrast with my black dresses. If I wear black dress + black tights + black boots, it's too much black. So I think that the boots will relate beautifully to the denim, and will be versatile if you wear a lot of black in general. I wouldn't worry about the topper. Either coat will work.

But, I'm not sure about pairing the boots with a black bag. Something about that combo seems to clash for me. I guess it depends on the entire outfit. Do you have a cream bag? Or olive green as GG suggests? Or something in a brown tone that "goes" but doesn't match the boots?

I don't have brown or olive bags but I do have a cream one. Is cream OK for fall/winter though?
