Black & White Polka Dot Bomber Jacket???

Hi Ladies,

Having seen Janet look so fab in her patterned bomber jacket, I am considering adding one to my closet. Couldn't find a picture of the actual jacket but it's like this Stella McCartney one I found on line.

The one I am considering is black and white polka dots and is shorter than this, falling just on my waist. I am imagining wearing it like Janet, over a straight dress or skirt, and over a slim pant with a longer blouse layered underneath the jacket, or maybe semi tucked.

Can you this working for me and my style? I am seeking honest opinions as this is quite a "trendy" item for me and not something I expected to like so much.

I can absolutely see this working for your style Deb - it will have your trademark colour combination and a pattern that is classic. Getting the right fit will be key but I definitely think it's worth trying.

Thanks Shannon:). I really didn't think a bomber would look good on me so was so suprised when I tried it on and it looked ok:). My real hesitation is that the bomber is being marketed here to "young girls" and I worry about looking like I'm trying too hard lol.

Deborah - I think you've captured an elegant version of the bomber that would definitely work with your style. I am also shopping for one and finding I have to look in the juniors departments, but want to make sure it doesn't LOOK juniors on me. I would wear that polkadot one in a heartbeat (the one you're describing and the one you posted!)

I really like it for you. It is a nice combination of trend and sophistication with the dots. I would love to add this one to my closet as well. I say go for it. I understand the concern on young, but motos are marketed to the young girls as well. Don't let that sway you.

If you wore it with a slouchy tank top, short shorts and heels, then yeah...you'd be trying too hard. But you are WAY too classy to go the wrong direction with the bomber. Popped over one of your gorgeous dresses, with a pair of your edgy booties and a daytime clutch and voila - perfection!

Deborah, if you hadn't told us it was being marketed to a young crowd, I would not have known. I think this is very you! The polka dots are on trend but still timeless -- I think this could be worn by a woman of any age.

I have a feeling this silhouette will be around for a while. Maybe Angie will have a better sense than me of whether that's true, but I figure if I find it relatively wearable, many other women will too. As with all things, the success is in the details. I also ended up buying a longer, more casual, military-green bomber at Zara that got a workout with jeans and flats on my New Mexico trip. I'll have to post pics of that too. I even eyed an open-weave black high-low hem bomber in Lord & Taylor the other day. It was tempting, but it was pretty trendy and I decided two bombers was enough for now.

But back to this jacket -- I think it looks like a great fit for your fab black and white capsule! Can't wait to see it on you!

I think this jacket looks perfectly suited to your style, Deb. You would wear it well. Pattern and colour combination are a classic for you and the cut is a bit of a change.

I am sure you can make it work for you, Deb. It is a little bit like sassy sneakers that seem to be marketed to only younger generation and so are a lot of other new trends. The colours of this jacket are so classic to you.
