Black silk shirt - unsure K/R (ETA: returning)

I thought a black silk button down would be a great addition to my wardrobe. EBay pricing makes it cheap enough to be a trial item to decide if I really will wear this style. But . . . I totally don't know if this fits right or not. Of course, it's crease from packing but I hope you can get the general idea.
Should I keep it and consider it an introduction piece, to upgrade later if I find it works? Or should I return it now and look for a better shirt to play around with, with the thought that better fit is likely to make me want to wear it more?
Color me confused.

Hmm. What KIND of silk is it? It doesn't seem to be draping very nicely for some reason, which worries me.

I can see the use of something like this in your wardrobe for sure. I'm just not sure this is the one. It seems a strange mix - not at all fitted, yet not truly boxy-drapy either? Or is that my imagination.

Sorry, Mo - it's a "nay" from me. I know you have a great figure and for me, this shirt makes you took very wide. I also feel this particular black is drab on you. I'm certain there's a better silk shirt out there for you! *Ducking*

No, Suz, I think you hit in on the head. The shape seems neither here nor there. It's an xs but seems almost 80's in it's wide/short vibe. I don't feel fab in it. But I have only one other silk shirt to compare it to in my wardrobe, which is silver, so not very versatile. Still, the silver one does hang a lot better than this - and it was only $8 at Kmart!!

I'd return. It seems too big all over for you, plus it's not draping nicely.

I like the "idea" of this, Mo, and the black silk shirt looks nice, but Suz did hit it on the head, because it looks boxy in photo #2 and more fitted in #3, which is odd. If you don't feel fab in it, you've given yourself the answer. P.S. I love your new avatar and had a cat who sat in a similar way, with his left paw over the right. ^_^

Well, this certainly shows how all silk is not alike. Send it back, Mo - it is much too boxy in a bad 80s way. Look for the Equipment shirts in the "Brett" style (not as oversized) - you may find a deal on ebay! Or try the Costco shirts Anna suggested if you have a Costco nearby.

Unless you can get it to soften up and drape correctly, I'd return. Way too boxy on beautiful you.

Thanks for the tips, Una. We have a Costco in NV that a friend takes the BF shopping to (we don't have a card). Doubt the shirts will still be there in Dec/Jan though lol. Maybe an Equipment off eBay would be doable. What size do you wear in them - I don't know if I'd be S or XS.

I paid $90 for mine. They run about $200 at Nordstrom. Painful, I know, but they are TDF quality. Just don't get the sheer ones - they snag like mad.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a deal. I don't need it right away. I have a good month, even if I rolled the sleeves, before I could wear it comfortably.

If you get an Equipment one, in black, do not go for the brushed suede. I did not like the texture of it, at all. It looks faded. I have a Brett in Xsmall and a Signature in Small. Go figure! The Brett is supposed to be smaller, not on me. I'd say get a XS.
