Black Sheath Dress

I was having a browse round the shops today and found this dress in the sale at Marks and Spencer Limited Collection. It's a fairly plain dress, my thinking is that it could be worn smart out for dinenr etc or dressed up more for more fomal events. Does it work for this? does it look ok on etc? My normal size was a bit tight so I bought the next size up.

I like it. I see it over your skinnies, with a cute jacket... or it's great just as it is. I'm assuming you live in a perpetually summer climate?

Yeah its still mid 30's here during the day and it won't get much cooler than that. I didn't even think about wearing it with jeans, I should try that. I don't acutally own many jackets or similar now, although some days it can be quite cool indoors due to the a/c so it would make sense to have a few extra layer options.

My god, summer all year long? You can save a lot! no need to buy hose, coats or boots.
The dress is lovely and with a simple black dress you can go crazy on the accessories, nice bag, nice sandals and I would choose a statement necklace!

I have a similar one from AT on today, and I can't tell you how many variations I am able to wear with it. I easily wear it once a week and I doubt anyone can tell.

I used to have a bit of a shoe fetish and loved having lots of different colours and things. Now I am always so occupied trying to find new outfits that shoes tend to get put on the back burner, and my collection is gradually disappearing. At least with this dress everything goes and will make it look completely different so I can justify buying a few different pairs to wear with it!

I'm going out tonight to a fairly posh restaurant and then nice bar afterwards. I thought I would give the black sheath its debute, but everything I try on with it looks bland. I have attached pictures of two different bag and shoe options, the first one I quite like but don't have any other gold colured accessories to brighten it up. The second shoes are dary purple suede the bag has silver hardware so I have silver ad purple jewllery I can wear with it, but I don't like the shoes as much and they are also not very comfy!! Am I doing my usual and over complicating/over analzing things? I need someone to give me a shake today!

I really like the first look- that bag is sooooo fun looking. Do you have some gold hoop earrings? But actually I don't see that you need much else in the way of accessories. The neckline of that dress seems to already have some personality, so I think you could go with just the purse and shoes and be fine. It actually looks really classy just the way you have it. Maybe be on the lookout for a bracelet that would finish off the look for later....

I love the dress on you! Is that little munchkin your accessory assistant:). I agree that maybe a fun pair of earrings would be a nice addition.

You look lovely! Be comfortable and go with the first look. You could add statement bracelet(s) or earrings later, as Queenie mentioned, for an accessory that will work in hot weather.

I agree with the others that I like the first look the best, that bag is fabulous. Just add some simple gold hoops or danglies, and you are good to go!

Yes, how did it work out? If it's not too late for more advice, I think it looks lovely without too many accessories. I would try hair up to show the neckline and fun earrings. But I don't picture dangly earrings, more like a stud earring....maybe something like this? http://www.polyvore.com/huge_v.....id=5547098 a stud , I guess, but larger, does that make sense? apparently I don't know jewelry lingo...

Yes we had a lovely evening, the food was amazing, I had a few too many glasses of wine and have a bit of a sensitive head this morning. I went for the first combination, the sort of red shoes and bag with the feathers on. The bag is fun and always gets compliments which is nice considering it was a bargain buy. I added a wide black belt to the dress which had the same texture as the shoes (sort of crocodile texture) and with this I felt it didn't really need any other accessories. I should ave taken a picture but my samera was out of battery, my friend took pictures so when she emails them I will post one. Thanks for tall the advice and commments, as usual greatly appreciated.
