Black Patent?

I associate black with fall winter. I tend to think of patent as any an time of year fabrication. White and nude better for summer, darker colors for winter. White patent shoes would have me thinking of Easter, but not black.

Patent for spring and summer is one of those old rules like no white before Memorial day or after labor day. Both those rules have been abandoned and many of us are very glad they have been. so maybe your grandmother will say not to wear them in winter, but I doubt anyone else will.

This is only the second time I've ever heard of this rule. I'm curious if it's possibly a Southern rule? I think of black patent for Christmas, white for Easter.

I can't imagine wearing black patent only in summer! Mind you, my Doc sandals are black patent but it just generally seems wintry to me in pumps and boots.

Patent is now year round. I usually judge more by shoe style and those are totally cool. I associate suede with fall and winter only still.

I had black patent peep toe wedges that I wore to death last year and I have black patent pumps I wear year round.

I didn't buy them after all. I realized that they would just be another pair sitting in the closet looking pretty. I have the bad habit of buying shoes for my previous life, not practical shoes for my current life since I got sick. LOL
I think I'll look on line for some cobalt blue Converse.

I especially like black patent for winter as a different texture to pair with black regular leather and suede. Easter was white patent Mary Janes for us growing up and later white pumps.
