black or brown?

So much better to make decisions with you all

In reference to my spur-of-the-moment winter boot purchase (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....n-purchase), I can't decide between black or brown. Black seems more city and rarefied, brown seems more field/farm, but more my color? I have a city life for the next couple years at least, but these babies better last me. I would wear these mostly with jeans or dresses.

Anyone with an opinion?

Do you have a picture of the boots?

I would make the decision based on the clothes and accessories you already have. What color are your coats and jackets? What color are your handbags? If you're going to be wearing a lot of brown (because it's more your color), then black boots will look odd.

If your colour palette features more the earthy type colours in general, I'd probably be inclined to go with the brown.

Also, you should consider the shade of brown. I'm thinking that if you select a darker brown, I tend to think of this as having more the option of "dressing it up", a lighter brown would generally give off a more casual vibe. Have fun choosing!

Yes I am silly. Here are photos of boots I was thinking about. I had little time to scout things out but these seem like they would fit in calf and height, which is pretty amazing in and of itself.

Oooo they look lovely not gearish at all more like biker or engineer boots. Personally I would go for black but what do you wear more of black or brown clothes? x

I love those boots in both colours, Scarlet, they're great. I think the brown ones would look fab with your hair and if you wear more black, then the brown might be a good accent colour? But then again, I also really love black boots with other black pieces. Sigh, I don't know;-)

I like the look of the black. Some footware just looks better in a certain color and this one I like in black. Which ever you choose will be beautiful. Those are very cool boots. Are they a style of UGG boots? UGG is making some good looking boots these days.

Remind me - how do you plan to wear these? Are these for tucking skinnies into, or to wear with skirts/dresses?

I think engineer type boots like thees look best in black -- what boots are they, btw?

Scarlet, to me these boots look like they want to be black. And thinking about the outfits you've posted, it seems like black would go just fine with your winter style. Cute boots!

I vote black as they can still be worn with your brown clothes. I like your choice of boots. BTW I'm very much one of the European in denial people you speak of!

Seems like most people had the same feeling I did that this style looks better in black for some reason, so that's what I ordered. I hope they fit--the weather forecast is not improving!

The boots are made by Aigle, which specializes in rubber and riding boots as far as I know. I must say my selection was haphazard. There is one big outdoor store around here, and I went for the best looking practical thing I could find. I will really like these if they fit though! (The tall ones were not available in-store.)

RoseandJoan - LOL, maybe some day you can explain the mindset to me.

Can't wait to see how they look! I like both colors though black might be a better urban choice - the brown has a bit of that "Field & Stream" vibe
