Black lace midi skirt

REFINING ONESELF

Any ideas on how to update a vintage midi black lace skirt? Sorry for the lack of photos (camera broken)
The shirt hits at the natural waist, full through the hips ending mid calf. It is the most exquisite heavy scalloped black lace lined in black. I tried it with a silk button up the front blouse but it was too 80s looking for me
Anybody care to suggest another alternative? I would like to give it a outing this season

Something cropped, maybe. With a high- waisted skirt you can go fairly short. Then maybe look for some other element that says modern- leather(faux) comes to mind, or a bit of hi- lo, or something, and the right shoes, so only the skirt is vintage.

I'd try it with a fluid knit & some booties & see if it looks more modern - it sounds beautiful

I thrifted a similar skirt recently, only mine is more A line, just below the knee, and the lining is grey. I wore it this past Sunday with a slim black turtleneck, untucked, and it looked modern enough to go old-school with sheer hose and kitten heel Mary Jane pumps. People came up and asked to touch it!

I'm planning to wear it again this Sunday -closer to Angie's recent lace skirt formula with a white shirt, and lacking the right skinny man's tie, I think I'll tie a printed scarf in a bow for Gaudete Sunday, and wear booties or colourblock pumps to edge it up some.

le just mix it up with modern pieces. I wished mine were a pencil at first but now I'm feeling the fuller skirts.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try as many as I can with my closet before buying a new item. Hoping for a new camera for Christmas so I will post photos then. PS I ordered my first pair of non costume fishnets. Yeah!
