Black jacket?

This is the black jacket I mentioned in another thread. It is actually German. Not the greatest pic but what do you think? I am inclined to let it go.

Big collar plus those shoulders seem to overwhelm you. Especially the big collar, it's not really as dramatic as I envisioned it.

It's fine, but not marvellous. Is this the $10 one? If it's good quality construction, fine might be good enough at that price. Please forgive me, I am an incurable cheapskate.

It feels retro to me. If it is an item of great quality, I would hang on to it but it does not feel "now" to me -- it's the high stance and all of the buttons that throw me. Right now jackets have few buttons (if any) and low stances. I do have some high quality designer jackets that I have been hanging on to like this, as I have the space. I like to keep my high end purchases, and yes I do pull them out when the style trends again.

Do you feel this jacket going to help you move into your next stage? Does it provide that "happiness quotient" when you put it on? And the real zinger--would you consider purchasing it at full price?

Gaylene, I would never have bought it at full price, especially since I have a black fitted jacket with a retro feel already! So yes, it is staying in the store.

Thank you for steering me in the right direction. Those $10 will go towards a much smarter purchase.

Suz, too funny! That is just like the jackets I keep wanting to buy at the thrift store! And every time one of them comes home with me, it only gets worn once or twice before the YLF ladies convince me that Those Jackets are not quite current these days.

Good choice! Maybe a year ago you would have felt fab in it, but based on what you've said lately about your style direction -- this wasn't in line with the new you.

You know....I may have overstated the avant-garde thing, LOL. A HUGE part of me still adores a retro look. But the thing is, I already have a fitted, high stance black wool crepe jacket. I don't care what anybody says, I feel fab in it, so I am going to continue to wear it! But this one felt a little different. I think it was the collar that was the nagging problem. Glad I had your input.

I was going to vote "leave it" but see that you've decided. The length can be problematic to style when you're not tall and the shoulder seams don't look like they are right for you.

If you wouldn't wear it at full price, why would you suddenly wear it just because it's cheap? Fabulous Suz should have fabulous things, no matter the price.
