Hi Everyone!

It's the day after Thanksgiving, which is traditionally a very busy day for shopping in the US. Are any of you going out today? If so, where? Is it busy, and how are the sales? We already know what we're getting everyone (mostly things from online), so I'm staying in with a warm cup of tea (grey, rainy day today), but I'm curious how it is out there.

Nope. I won't be venturing out. I've only done Black Friday once and it wasn't too bad, but I think you have to go really early to avoid lots and lots of people.

I slept in today and am still in my pajamas. If I do any shopping it will be online and I mainly buy gift cards as Christmas gifts. I just want to stay in and relax instead of dealing with the crazy crowds.

I just got back from my local mall. I started out at 9am and it was fairly empty but by noon it was bustling. There were a lot of deals to be had - 40% off of sweaters, coats, jewelry and handbags at BR, extra 20% off before noon at AT and ATL (most of there merchandise was already discounted), 10-30% off of mostly everything at J Crew, and buy one get one free sweaters at the Gap. I didn't have time to go to Saks, but apparently there was some ridiculous deals and a lot of people were carrying bags from there.

There were a lot of people spending money so hopefully that's a good sign for the economy! I bought a few basics for myself, and gifts for my husband.

Saks is having an insane sale! I've already ordered 2 dresses from them this week (hee). I'll post photos as soon as I get them, so I can get some opinions. If you haven't been there, check them out online. Free shipping off orders of $200 or more with code SAKSFS.

Ana, I haven't ventured out either - we're putting up Christmas decorations and having a playdate for the boys - but I did score that pair of Docs I've been eyeing, on sale at Endless.com today, and free shipping.

Yesterday Lucky had 40% off everything on their site so I bought this denim pencil skirt, but I could only buy a size 4 so I'm not sure it will fit (especially after all that PIE!):

We are staying in today. I’m paralyzed from all the eating I did yesterday. It was worth it though. And to think we’re doing it all again at our house with friends tonight. What were we thinking? Oh well! I’m sure it will be just as fabulous. I’ll be comatose tomorrow.

I'm staying at home today because I've been sidelined with a stomach thing (which started two days before Thanksgiving). I'm checking things online from time to time, but holding out. (I may get a DVD set or two from Amazon)

Ana, by the time I got to the Saks sale everything I was stalking was sold out I had two interesting clutches in my shopping bag for days, and then the price went down drastically, and poof, gone. Oh well. I'm in no hurry, I'll wait for something better.

I hope your Milly dresses fit. I really liked their selection this season.

I never step foot in the stores on the day after Thanksgiving. I have a thing about crowds.

I did, however, go snowboarding this morning with my family. I'll spare you the description of my outfit.

The crowds and traffic are terrifying for me, and I always avoid shopping on this day. I saw a HUGE line of cars at a mall exit on the way home today and it was a scary sight
But - aside from fashion - I have been looking online at computers. I need a new one, and there seem to be some good deals.

I stayed at home and shopped online. I bought a couple of basic T's and jacket for my daughter and picked up two sweaters from BR.

I was horrified to read the story about the Wal-Mart worker's death in rush. Is our economy that bad that people became animals now? Sigh.

This year was so nice to stay home and shop online, wasn't it? We got Brendan two pairs of jeans from BR, and found a coupon online, so we saved $40 on the two pairs. I'm so excited to see them on him! He's back down to a 44 (he's lost 30 pounds so far), so I hope they fit him. And I ordered a dress and a bracelet with some leftover birthday money, so all in all, a good shopping day.

Julia, I did hear about that incident at Walmart--how sad. Just, sad all the way around.

Sounds like a good online shopping day. I’ve never shopped on Black Friday and hope to never have to. The Wal-Mart story makes me sick to my stomach. TRAGIC. A very black Friday indeed.

Thanks, Lena. How are you feeling ? Hope you’re on the mend. (We had another fabulous 2nd Thanksgiving. I’m paralyzed again. Oh well. A good long walk with Jasmine and Rosie is on today’s agenda and I’m looking forward to it).

There’ll be lots of good shopping opportunity this year. I see unprecedented retail deals and markdowns ahead of us. Such is the advantage of a bad economic climate.

OMG, that Walmart story was really sick. I know that we live in a consumer culture and that our economy is dependent on our consumption but what kind of society do we live in when people are killed to satiate our shopping needs???? Yikes!

I'm like Nicole - try to avoid the mall altogether after Thanksgiving. I actually had to run in to make an exchange today and I didn't think the deals were all that great but given the state of the economy, the deals are definitely coming.

I stayed home for black Friday, too, and did some online shopping instead (clothes from Tulle, and some household items from Macy's). Very relaxing.

I did go out to see a movie last night, at a theater that's inside a mall, and was surprised to find it pretty calm there. We had no trouble finding a parking spot close to the entrance, and the mall itself was less packed than I've seen it before. I guess online shopping, combined with cutting down, is really taking hold.

I heard about the Wal-Mart incident as well and was appalled at the behavior of human begins...The Wal-Mart in question is 10 min...away from my house...I was on the phone with a friend who was out there in all the chaos and she told me what happened and that they closed the store down...doesn't bring his life back...My heart goes out to his family...
