I usually don't do much for Black Friday; I hate crowds, I don't really like shopping if I can't do it at a leisurely pace, and my tendency is to pick more things than are in my budget and then really think about them as I narrow my final purchase down, which just isn't possible when stores are packed and lines are long. So I treat myself to a couple things online.
This year I only bought from Torrid because they had 40% off on EVERYTHING and 50% off on clearance items, and I find their sizing and quality to be fairly consistent. I tried to stick to things I really needed, so I got three t-shirts and a refresh on my underwear (I am an adult and I just bought super hero panties, y'all)... plus this freaking fabulous pair of pants I've been lusting after but refused to pay the full price for:

They didn't have the "tall" inseam in my size, so I got "extra tall." I'll either roll/cuff them if they end up being too long, or I'll have them shortened.
Here are the tees I chose:

I picked the Star Trek and "I Solemnly Swear" ones because I LOVE Star Trek and Harry Potter. I'm a huge geek, and things related to my fandoms always make me happy. Another contender was a cool Star Wars shirt, but I already have one. I also like the Harry Potter one because "I solemnly swear that I am up to no good" is pretty much my motto as of late. As a soon-to-be-divorcee, I've been spending more time doing the things that I love that my ex didn't and leaning on my awesome rebel girl friends. Finally, I chose the "smooth as whiskey" one because... whiskey. Do I really need a better reason? I think not!
I'm going for more punk rock, casual, boyish, and creativity in my clothes these days. There's something about spunky clothes that make me feel like I can take on the world, and given everything I've been through this year, it's a feeling I can't have too much of. I've been letting my curls go wild, skipping makeup unless I'm really in the mood for it, and choosing clothes in which I can be active and comfortable. I've gone hiking and trail walking twice this week and I feel fantastic. I've lost 10 pounds in the last 2 months (down to 228 from over 240 in September--slow going, but steady). I've made a commitment to myself to put myself first for a while and not feel guilty about it. I've fallen out of love with my ex and back in love with life.
