Black Flats/Loafers-Help Me Choose

This year I was determined to get a pair of black flats/loafers for fall. Last year I could not find one pair I liked, but this year I found a few. So, now that the last pair I ordered has arrived I need some help deciding which pair to keep. They all fit and I like them all but I really only need one, right?

So, is it Kate, Mark or Paul?

I would love to hear your thoughts. And if you have any other suggestions, I am open to those as well.

I have a black pointed toe oxford or loafer on my fall list too ! Personally , I find the Marc Fisher less modern and fashionable looking, and I much, much prefer the other two. Based on what I've seen you wearing thus far, I'd say the pointy Kate would be lovely on you. The chunkier one would work with jeans, but maybe fewer outfits than the Kate.

When I was in the Nordstrom shoe dept I realized the Kate Spade flats look like a Prada shoe and the Marc Fisher loafers look like a Tod's loafer.

I like Kate best because they're pointy and dainty. I like the simple band across the top.

The thick soled ones seem good for walking, and seem fairly trendy.

For the other one, I'm not sure about the metal detail. They seem to be more classic.

Each of these shoes gives such a different vibe. The Marc Fishers are extremely classic, read a little less dressy. The Kate Spades are more refined. I have a sugar eye for pointed toes, so I like the Kate Spades. I bought a patent, pointy pair from Boden last winter.

I like them all, Colette. Personally, it's the comfort level of the loafer that would make the decision for me.

I am not terribly fond of the Marc Fisher pair. As for the other two, it would depend on the outfit. The Paul Green is a more casual, chunkier look, while the Kate Spade could work well with either skirts or pants. I think the Kate Spade pair is probably most versatile and the dressiest.

IMO. the kate spade are dressier and classic. the paul greens are more trending and of the moment. the marc fisher are as you say a knock off of the tod's, and pretty conversative and sort of anti fashion in a way. i'm not a huge fan of the marc fishers, but then i like footwear that makes a fashion statement, but i also realize that this type of shoe tends to look better in person than in a photo….but for me its a toss up between the kate spades and the paul green's…and i don't think you could go wrong with either.

I would pick whichever you can walk the farthest comfortably in.

That said, I like the style quotient of the Kate and Paul better. I feel like you can find the Marc in a lot of brands.

I echo Echo, exactly! I would actually be tempted by both- Kate for dressier work outfits and the PG for casual weekends. Yet Kate would add some polish to casual outfits so, for me, would be more versatile if I had to choose one.

I agree with echo and Susie - I would go for Kate and / or Paul. Kate looks polished and dressy. Paul looks modern and fresh. I find loafers can be quite constricting around the width of the foot and so I would just be certain they would be comfy. Or don't need to walk too far! To me, the Mark ones look very classic.

Sorry to have checked out for a while, Ginger became very ill and needed my full attention. Thankfully she started to feel a little better yesterday and today she seems to have her spunk and appetite back. <Insert a very big sigh of relief!>

I wanted to thank you all for your input, I found it very helpful as always. I agree the Marc Fisher are the most classic style, and I like them for that and don't like them for that. Not sure if that makes any sense. I was not totally in love with the metal bar across the top but I gave them a shot because you never know. They are the most comfortable of the three out of the box, of course. The Kate Spade are next most comfortable. I really like this shoe. It's definitely the most polished and that appeals to me. And while I'm not usually a trendy person, I love the Paul Green, they were one of a few NAS wildcards for me this year. So, I'm definitely keeping the Kate Spade and considering keeping the Paul Green.

I think you are keeping the best ones. The only thing is, on shoes for Fall, you never really know exactly how they fit until Fall arrives and your feet are not swollen anymore.
