Black corduroy skirt help!!!!

Hi all! I'm new to this group, but happy to have found it. I often get stuck with pairing the same items together and get bored with my wardrobe or just not sure what to wear with a specific item.

So, my question to this group is what would you wear with a black mini corduroy skirt? For the bottom half, I was thinking black tights with black suede wedge booties. I'm just not sure what to wear on top. Would a charcoal gray cashmere sweater be too heavy looking? I put it together and not sure if it works.

A sweater sounds like a good choice with a corduroy skirt but if the charcoal grey is very dark it may look like you tried to match your top to your bottom and didn't quite make it. Or maybe you are more comfortable dressing with a higher contrast instead of dark all over. Maybe a lighter color neutral or a colored sweater would look better to your eye. Or a printed or striped sweater with black in the print.

I have some black corduroy pants that I bought with two cashmere sweaters. One was a heathered blue with an owl, the other a rosy light purple wrap sweater. Both sweaters ended at the waist. Which is to say, I think corduroy is a heavy cozy fabric, and I like cozy tops to go with. I don't like long tops with it, because I feel things get too droopy.

Mini skirts I inevitably wear with leggings and socks and mid calf boots or flats with a substantial sole. I feel, for me anyways, mini skirts need to be anchored...

Since corduroy has lots of texture, one can get away with chunky sweaters. I like to wear navy with black. A navy cable knit would work. You could also do tan with black or black and white/ ivory.

I agree with all of these suggestions. Corduroy to me is a winter fabric, so goes well with opaque tights and leggings and chunky sweaters, and to my eye charcoal is good with black as long as there are different textures.
