black boyfriends, uncropped: legal?

Remember when boyfriend-fit jeans weren't cropped or rolled, just sloppy and saggy? Is there any way to wear them like that now, or is that a look that would need to be owned in defiance of current sensibilities?

As I left to go pants hunting yesterday, I asked bf if he had any requests. After all, he puts up with me wearing ONE PAIR OF PANTS ALL THE TIME. So he should have a voice for preferences about that one pair.

"Black, with plenty of room." Oh, you mean boyfriend style? I asked. The expression on his face was quizzical and bemused. "Boyfriend style?" You know, like if you have a boyfriend -- and borrow his jeans, I was going to say. But he completed the sentence: "You have a boyfriend so you don't have to wear anything that tight any more?"

The upper size range of women's jeans fits, but not with much room. So I went to the mall and tried on men's jeans. Picked up a pair of TR black Ricky jeans. http://www.zappos.com/true-rel.....n-superfly
I like the fit around the hips, but the hems seem too wide to roll.

Won't have time to have bf take pictures until tomorrow, so it's hard to get input on styling questions and concerns. But any feedback in general?

YES. I wear my TR Camerons like that sometimes. They are very long and sloppy. But I always tuck my top, wear a belt, and wear tailored heeled booties or oxfords with that look.

And sure...I wear my BF jeans full length. I even have one pair that i can wear full length with a cuff (I mean, even cuffed, they are full length on me).

If I can't wear them full length, I lose half a year's potential wear from my BF jeans, because I need the coverage for cool temperatures where I live. So I try to make sure it's possible.

Thanks Angie! These will definitely need statement belts and flowy blouses. Will post pictures for advice on how to wear them with flat ankle boots. Certainly at times I'll go normcore with Cons and a sweatshirt, but it won't be the most appealing look.

Suz, thanks for affirming my need for full length. I run cold, and aesthetically see no reason to flash my stocky ankles.

I wear my bf's full length often, especially in the winter. But, I tend to size down in the TR Cameron for example so they come off more as an easy fit straight legged jean rather than an oversized bf. But a man's jean, worn long and slouchy like a man, could look interesting. Just keep the rest of the outfit feminine unless of course you are going for intentional butch style which could be interesting too.
