Hi Ladies,

Hope you are all having a great weekend! I know Shannon is, because she has found her spring jacket... yay!

I am on a mission to have my booties capsule ready for Winter and I have two items left on my would like list. I am wanting to add a flat pair and a heeled pair of black booties. In both instances, I am after something sleek with a pointy or pointy-ish toe.

I found these today which I think fit my criteria for flat booties.

They are from Rivers and are from their "RiverSoft" range. They are incredibly comfortable and are like 'walking on air'. My black and white oxfords are the same make of shoe. They could easily be 12 hour shoes if your were on you feet that long.

Just as an aside, I am finding my interest in long boots for this winter is almost non existent. I do need to replace my tall black suede boots but I'm not sure I will. Obviously the temperature plays a role in these decisions but anyone else not feeling the love for tall boots this year, or is it just me with me with this infatuation with booties?

Anyway, what say you? How do these look to you. I would like to wear these with pants or skirts. I think with the right length and style of skirt I might just get away with them?

On another note, I have been a little scarce on the Forum due to life being a bit busy. We are in the middle of school holidays, I am working and my MIL is in hospital again and this time it is quite serious (i will pop something on the Off Topic section). I am commenting where I can, but struggling to keep up.

Your positive thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Deborah, I vote keep the boots. These look something like the boots I wore most of my trip because shoes were too cold, except that yours have that fab pointed toe. They sound super comfortable. This past winter I didn't reach for my long boots nearly as much as booties and ankle boots, even though it was cold enough for long boots. I understand your feelings about them. I was going to get tall light toned boots this year but found my python Pettys filled the need.
i'm sorry about your MIL. Please try to take care of yourself to be able to give support to DH and your family.

Deborah, thumbs up from me! I love the sleek lines of these and the fact that you have had luck with this brand in the past. I still haven't found my perfect booties yet (they are on the top of my list for fall), but I suspect that they will be all I want to wear when I do find them.

Gorgeous boots - I vote keep! I don't think I have seen a better-looing flat black boot than this one. Very fab, and you don't need to keep looking or second-guessing anything - these are fantastic, imo.

Meanwhile, I'm sending prayers for your MIL - here's hoping the 'quite serious' turns into 'not-so-serious' after all, that she gets the treatment she needs and things calm down.

Hang in there - I know it's not easy when loved ones are battling health issues.

I love them! I think they have the look you want and can easily be dressed up or down as well.

I have a closet full of tall boots and have worn only my flat black riding boots a handful of times this winter. I've been wearing booties pretty my exclusively.

The boots. I have been looking for something similar. I think these look good but would look sleeker without the seam across the boot. They also need to be a little more shaped at the ankle too. Just my opinion as always:)

Those look perfect! I need tall boots for bad fall/winter weather, but otherwise I agree I would be much more focused on shorter boots. Sorry to hear thinks are rough right now.

These are cute - but they look a little "gearish" to me - with the tabs in the back, the sole and heel, and the seam across the top of the foot. If wearing that style works in your lifestyle then I say go for it - and I think they would look great with jeans. But, I'm having a hard time picturing them with skirts/dresses. Could you post some full-length photos in a skirt so we could see how they look around your ankle and how the height of them works with your skirt?

I like the shape of the toe box a lot. Nothing like comfort in a flat bootie as well. The gear qualities don't bother me. Tabs are always a part of Chelsea boots, no? But I'm not sure I see them with skirts, they look great for straight and skinny and boyfriend jeans/pants though. Also slouchy trousers that are tapered at the ankle. I vote keep, I think you will get a ton of wear out of them because they look good, are comfortable, and make for a useful style tool.

And sorry about your MIL. You try to prepare yourself mentally for stuff like this, but it is still so hard, and it hurts. We are here for you. How is DH holding up, also Master 10?

About the bootie, I vote keep. they look sleek, simple, comfortable, well made and very versatile to me. They will be some workhorses.
I personally cannot do without long boots in winter. I live in skirts and dresses, and even the inbdoors are all cosy and warm we can have -15°C with serious snow and winds topped with bad driving conditions, too. So a good warm knee length boot is a lifesaver for me. Plus, there are some hem lengths that I still cannot do with booties (or perhaps don't have the rght ones, for them). So,
I use booties in spring and fall the most.

I'm not a fan of long boots myself anyway, but the temperature definitely plays a part. I'm in Sydney [ I think you're in Brisbane?] and i just dont think its cold enough in either place for long boots to be a necessity. In winter in the daytime I often wear booties with a skirt, with bare legs. But I totally get for all the YLF members in cold places that long boots are a big part of your winter wear.

These look great, I will need to have a look at Rivers tomorrow. I have not been able to find any booties that excite me yet, the range so far is very boring.

Deborah, I like these boots a lot. But then I would, because I am a sucker for any chelsea type boot! Still, with their slightly pointed toe, these ones are more refined than some and they are also comfortable, as you say.

I agree with others that they don't seem as suited to a skirt or dress, however. Especially because the ankle is a bit loose. I do think for a very casual denim skirt / legging type look they'd be fab, but that is not so much your style.

Still, I think you'd get a ton of wear of them with pants and that makes them worthwhile.

I was really off tall boots this past year myself but may be ready to return to them more next year. I noticed in London a lot of people were wearing them.

So sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope things improve soon.

I love the booties - they are perfect: beautiful shape plus the comfort. I also wouldn't wear them with skirts but I think that is more a matter of a personal taste.

I also find it unlivable how much your thoughts about booties match mine! I have worm booties almost exclusively the whole winter - the tall ones only came to play when it was snowing or raining heavily which wasn't often. I have a black mid heel pair that I basically destroyed as I wore them on average 3 times a week for 6 months. So I too am considering getting two pairs the next fall - one fairly flat/low heeled and the other with a medium/high heeled.

I'm so jealous. I've just come back from a 3 day trip to NYC and the trend that struck me the hardest were all the flat booties I saw all the women wearing. I'm dying to find my perfect pair, but know I wouldn't really wear them until next fall. These are very cute and look like the kind of shoe that will get even better as they break in.

Thank you all for your comments re the boots. I am keeping them and I agree that these will be more a pants/jeans bootie. I always want my footwear to work with everything but I know that's not always possible. AND I am not really wearing skirts much! Really, the heeled pair I am searching for will be the ones I want to wear with dresses as I do prefer a heel with skirts etc.

Agnes, I am in Bendigo - 2 hours out of Melbourne. We have quite cold winters, but I do travel by car so it's not as though I am out in the 'elements' that much.

Tanya, it's good to know Im not the only one. Funny how we are thinking so similarly about boots this season.

Love the booties--glad you're keeping them! I'm with you on the tall boots. I do have a new pair that I love, but I don't wear them nearly as much as my booties. Booties are just so much more versatile, it seems--easy to style, easy to wear, instant chic.
