SOS YLF!! I have two pairs of black boots that are 3 years old and need to be put out to pasture. One is a Born riding boot, the other is a patent leather La Canadienne flat boot (well, that one *might* survive one more season since this winter has been a total non-event).

Please help me decide between two very different pairs of black boots. I can only buy one!

1. La Canadienne OTK boots.

The third option would be to stalk the Aquatalia black riding boots that Angie recommended during NAS. I don't know if the shopping gods will be with me, but I can try to score them when they (maybe, eventually) go on sale. I could KICK myself for not buying these in July.

Wow, that's a hard choice! I thought it was the first one when I looked at it, then I saw the second and the third and they are all three amazing! I'll be interested to see what Angie picks, because I like them all.

Tough call. I've been eyeing the Fryes myself so if I was going to buy one, I would buy those, but considering you are replacing, I would say the aquatalias are the most versatile. Deborah was sporting the brown version at the NYC gathering and those are divine.

Hmm, if you think your old La Canadienne might survive a season, why not stalk the Frye instead then, being the more 'different' boot from your patent leather flat ones?

But if you *can* afford to hold on, I guess the Aquatalias should be more than worth it --- they look killer and they sound very practical as well.

I really like them all (so no help here) Like Zap said, the Aquitalias are fab in person - saw them on Debora.

If you could squeak more life out of your LCs, I'd hold out for the Aquatalias! Those are divine. I love the Frye boots (having a well-worn pair myself) but I think they are more casual than what you are looking for.

Two years ago, I would have said the Veronica Slouch hands down. You had a more casual vibe to your style--edgy and urban. You are still all of that but I sense that you are gravitating toward something more polished now too--especially since you are back to work, right? Because of that, I would say my choice would be the Aquatalia followed by the LC's. Just my 2 cents, of course.

I'd stalk the Aquatalias. They are the best of both boots - winterized like the La Cs, but a little tough-looking like the Fryes. The Fryes are not as winterproof. And the LCs are OTK which makes them a tad less versatile. Just sayin'! I wish I'd gotten the Aquatalias too - instead I now have 4 pairs of differently purposed black boots.

Yes, Kelly, I think you are right about the Veronica Slouch boots. I really love the rugged vibe but the times they are a changin'. One other option was the Melissa Button, but I have a vague memory of trying on a pair a couple of years ago, and they came up too high on my leg. But that could still be a possibility.

I've tried on the LC's and they fit really well, and the leather is pebbled so they have a cool vibe. The Aquatalias are heavenly, of course. I think I need to burn some incense and do a boot dance so the shopping gods see to it that those Aquatalias land in my grimy little paws.

We'll see what Miss Angie says!

p.s. to Una - I feel your pain about the Aquas!!

Okay, this is crazy, but I googled the Aquatalias and found them on sale at shirise.com for $345. But of course who's heard of shirise.com, so I was scared to order them. Upon further research, I found that Shirise is a shoe boutique in a town 5 miles from me. So they have been ordered. Fingers crossed they work! Thank you ladies for your opinions!

Una, if shirise.com has your size, you can feel comfortable ordering them, because I will personally drive over there and beat them up if they don't send them

Laura, that's great about the Aquatalia's, and you are actually getting them for $15 less than the NAS price! I actually have them in black and I love them! They are so comfortable and warm. I wore them every day this past weekend in NYC. I know Angie has them and I'm pretty sure that Scarlet bought them in brown. A great boot for walking!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they fit you. The LC's look like a great option, too.

I just read your original post and I signed in to comment that maybe waiting for the Aquatalias would be worth it because they are so so fab in person! Like Jeanne, I saw them on Debora, they are gorgeous. I am so happy that you had your happy ending, yay!

Aw, Laura - you are sweet! I don't think I can possibly justify another pair of black boots at this point. But I am THRILLED that you found them; nothing worse than the stress of stalking, and I would have secondary stress on your behalf!

PPS Are you really only going to get 3 or 4 seasons out of your LC boots? Based on the general price of LC boots, I was kind of hoping/thinking they'd last longer!

Hey, MPG - by "seasons" I mean winter seasons, so that's 3-4 years. They hold up remarkably well, considering you can wear them in all kinds of inclement weather.

Here's hoping I won't need to beat up the boutique owner - fingers crossed they arrive and in good shape - I will post pics!
