Black ankle pants with black ankle boots

I wore my NYDJ blank ankle pants with black ankle boots today. The top of the pants just barely cover the tops of the boots. No skin shows. Is that okay? I keep thinking the pants should be longer, but then the design of the boots wouldn't show, which would defeat the entire purpose. ??? I'm just now getting used to this ankle pants thing, so please bear with me. I don't want this to be too complicated. Maybe I'm overthinking it.

can you tuck the pants into the booties? i think that would make the lengt of each seem intentional.

I think they need to be either tucked or even rolled a little.

Kind of hard to tell from the pics - but from what I can tell, I would roll the pants so a little bit of skin is showing.

Still hard to tell from that angle. Do the jeans have a slit at the hem? If they do, I'm not sure rolling is going to work. I'd go longer on the jeans if possible,

These are knit pants with slits at the hem. No way to roll them up or tuck them in. I guess the only way I'll be able to wear these pants is to tuck them into tall boots.

I'm not trying to be difficult, but I don't think I understand this whole concept. I'm petite, so I operate on the assumption that my leg line should not be shortened, which would happen if these pants were rolled up to show some skin. ??? If I'm missing the point, then should I put these pants in the dryer to shorten them? Please advise. Thanks!

I think I'd need to see full-body in a mirror to tell for sure, they might be fine as is. If you wanted to try tucking is there enough taper and length at the bottom (you said there wasn't that much coverage) to tuck into a black sock before putting on the boot? That might keep them in place.

The pants hang over the boots by about an inch, but ride up when I sit down. Not sure if I could tuck them into black socks or not. Hmmm...

ETA: I just tried to cuff them, and they cuff quite nicely and show just the right amount of skin I think. The side slits actually help with that. I'll have to take another pic later today so you all can see. Maybe this will work after all.

Nope - ain't gonna work. I'm gonna have to stick with tucking these pants into tall boots. Sigh...

Agree that we need to see the full picture. I often wear pants just on top of booties or rolled just above them. It all depends on the proportions and styling.
One thing I personally do not like is to tuck pants into booties: somehow it looks funny to me. Tucking into mid-calf or tall boots is fine though...

Let me know when she gets to my boor style. The ones I wore today completely and rather snugly cover my ankles. They're higher than the ones she wrote about.

I think that ankle boots will go with a pair of tights or leggings.

I struggle with this too but did read Inge's link yesterday that Deb mentioned and am now working on it . However it has turned cold here and the thought of having my bare skin exposed is not one I am relishing. I suppose I could resort to knee highs underneath.

Can you show us a full-body shot? Otherwise, it is really hard to tell for sure! I think that these pants are a difficult length! They're too short to be worn as full-length pants with booties (they need to hang over the boot much more than just an inch) - but they're too long (and can't be rolled) to be worn as the shorter styled pants that we see these days. I think that I'd consider shortening them if I were you!
In answer to your question about just what length you should be wearing your pants - I'm often stumped on that one too! I think that what the roll with skin showing does - is provide some structure to an outfit and is JFE to get a thumbs up from the Fashion Police! LOL

I'm just going to tuck them into tall boots and call it a day. I don't have long legs to begin with and don't want this to be complicated. Thanks anyway!
