Black ankle boots for me?

On the 2014 list is ankle boots. I tried the SE Circus Holt in black but they weren't me. http://www.zappos.com/circus-b.....st=fac%3A1 Something about the toe and heel together looked western, not rock n roll.
Wondering how these stack up (in Pic #1) http://www.revolveclothing.com.....38;d=Shoes I want something to wear with skinnies mostly. I might branch out and try skirts or dresses, but probably not. I have enough shooties and heels already to pair with them.
Right now I have 2 3/4" patent Sportos I'm wearing but the shafts are a bit too tall/wide for the skinnies to fit over well and the heel is just a touch too tall for lots of walking. A runner up shoe I really like I am afraid is too similar in height to the Sportos (read: too high for walking shoes), but the style is totally up my alley. http://www.dsw.com/shoe/ellen+.....RatingZone
One last thing - I wonder if the color blocking will be an issue 3 seasons from now or if they're subtle enough.

I am really liking those Real City Walker booties, I think they would be perfect for what you are looking for. And I don't think the blocking on them will get old, as it is subtle. Hey, maybe you'll have them worn to death by the time you get tired of that, anyway.

Mo - really like the grey city walker boots. Beautiful heel height and pretty pointy toe - subtle detail to give it a nice but very refined edge!! I think these would look great with anything. Big thumbs up from me!! But remember it only matter what calls to you and makes you happy and comfy!!

I could see you in one of the buckled, cut-out styles like the Jeffrey Cambpell Everly. I am considering something similar for myself actually (have decided that the gold and black boots don't HAVE to be tall boots). Initially I thought they'd be difficult to wear because any socks would show, but I really like how Anna styles her Balenciaga boots with deliberately showing socks.

Diana, I already eyed the Everly's!! BF is not a big fan of the cutout. Might be an issue in Tahoe with snow as well. Interestingly BF did like these Zara (but not in my size anymore of course) http://www.zara.com/us/en/woma.....95096.html.

The fit is brilliant and you can do a half tuck with your skinnies. I tuck in the front of my skinny jeans only. I think that little detail minimizes the ice cream cone effect.

Thanks Zap, I like those too! Edgy with the slit but still classic enough. I realize the eye popping snakeskin ones are just OTT for me, much as I think they're cool.
Angie, I like the Walkers a lot too. I'm trying to decide just how much edge I want/need.
Thistle, it's 40 right now here! And just to clarify, while I am in FL right now, my home is in Tahoe and that is permanent, so I always have an eye toward the next season and beyond . . .

I have these Seychelles in my amazon shopping cart. The cutout doesn't go all the way down on them, so I think they'd be easier to wear and be a lot more practical.

Mo, I personally prefer the more refined edge of the Walkers. Edge, but not too much. For your style, I prefer it too. (I know I'm Bossy).

I like them, and I don't think the colour blocked heel is a problem at all. Interesting to note that the 90s block heels are coming back -- not a bad thing, since I found them very comfortable and practical.

I should also note that I had Sam Edelman shoes that fell apart after what I consider to be not enough time and use. I question the quality. So maybe it's good that those Sam Edelman boots didn't work out?

The Grey Walkers immediately jumped out at me. Just enough interest but not too much detailing. If I didn't already have a pretty solid black boot selection, I'd be tempted by those!

Just chiming back in to thank Zap. I have not seen those JC booties. I have the everlys and the alexia slashed booties in black. I dont' wear sandals so I was planning on buying another pr of cut out booties for spring/summer (need to stockpile since I don't this trend will last forever). I just found the orilys at bloomies.com and ordered and they actually only had my size! Love JC so comfy, perfect heel height, rate but elegant to my eye. Thanks so much for the review!! I have fingers crossed that i will love them just as much as my others, then summer footware would be all set!!

You are welcome Gryffin. FYI - light grey is now on sale at Nordstrom for $89.00. That's an awesome Spring color, in LEATHER, not suede. I also forgot to add that the top is wired, so you can actually sculpt how wide or narrow you want the flaps to be.

I get my JC shoes from this Strawberry store @ Grand Central. I am not sure why they get most styles heavily discounted. The rest of what they sell is inexpensive, weird looking stuff.

update to say I just now pulled the trigger on the Grey City Walkers. I got a coupon code for 20% off at UO and that brought them down to $160. I'm returning the colorblock shorts ($66) and my H&M leather pants may or may not work out ($85). If not, I'm back where I started, money wise, anyway.

I'm late to this party but I'm glad you pulled the trigger on the Walker booties. Out of all the choices for black booties, I like those the best. I recently bought those SE booties in beige, not black, and I had the same thought about a slightly western vibe. I'm OK with that, but I'm not sure if I'm keeping or returning. I also bought a pair of white booties and I'm not sure I really need both.

Will do Deb, and Angie. I'm a 7.5 but 7 in some sandals (short toes). My high instep and arches keep closed shoes from allowing my short toes to slide forward
