I have all of the ingredients for this outfit but have never tried them together so when I saw Angie's post I decided to give it a go. Rain was threatening but with a raincoat on, it was the perfect outfit for going to lunch and a movie with DH in town. I only have the two skirts but liked this outfit so much I think I'll look for more.
skirts - Karina (hard to tell from photo but second skirt is black with red dots)
leggings and turtleneck - GAP

The plaid is my favorite, too. The other skirt has small red dots but they don't photograph well.

I like both outfits, Bonnie. I would like even more textures in the all black look, although I don't have any suggestions...maybe a black lace scarf or suede leather fringed bag?

The addition of the jacket is a nice touch, Bonnie! I know what you mean about some prints not photographing as well -- I like the softness of both skirts. The plaid has a certain "retro" flair. It reminds me (in a good way) of all those wool plaid skirts ladies wore to church and work in the 70's --- often paired with a corduroy or velvet blazer.

Thanks for the feedback. The vest and the skirts were orphans but it took Angie's inspiration to make them work. I think I'll wear version #2 for an concert this afternoon at the high school.

Mirjana - I did wear #2 for the concert today. It was cold so I wore my new red coat over it.

I love them both, but like the 1st skirt a little more (I'm mad for plaid). The booties really make it modern.

I love 2. I like the subtle change in colour in the skirt. To me, that adds quite a lot of interest on its own. I like your pendant necklace too.

Thanks to Angie for the inspiration. Now I have two new outfits. And thanks to the rest of you for the feedback, it really helps. I just started wearing black this year after seeing it in so many WIW posts and I'm glad to hear that it looks OK. I think my new red coat, a late Christmas gift from DH, is going to be a real workhorse.
