I have a big birthday coming up and my SO informed me that we are having two nights of celebrations. The first night we are going downtown for dinner and maybe dancing. The next night we are having dinner at one of my favorite French restaurants with our Parents. I would normally just wear smart casual outfits, but I really loved shopping for dresses, and miss wearing them, so I am dressing up for my birthday and wearing at least one dress.

Here is what I pulled together:

1-4 Dress for dinner and dancing. Very comfy and easy to move in for dancing and I'm hoping a little more fun than solid black. It's going to be pretty chilly so I definitely need a jacket and hose. Not sure this dress works with hose but I paired it with black hose, my moto jacket for a little edge, and pearl studded clutch. I could throw my merino wrap over the leather jacket if I'm really freezing.

5-6 For dinner with our Parent’s the next night, it is still going to be chilly so I am pairing a textured pencil skirt with a paper thin merino wool sweater, obi belt and peep toe booties. (I just read a blog that said it’s OK to wear hose with open toed shoes as long as the toe seam doesn’t show so I’m trying it.) I would normally just wear my pumps but these booties don't get much wear and I thought they might be a fun addition. I grabbed my old leather trench to top it off. It’s a bit big but I hope it's not too bad looking. I could sub my wool coat that is about the same length or a trench.
