On Sunday, which was my actual birthday, I didn't do much but watch the Super Bowl and wash dishes and laundry. Saturday however, Hubz took me on a shopping spree!!
My main objective was to find a pair of brown boots. This is something I guess called a "wardrobe gap" item, as they are an item II've wanted for a long time and felt like I could create so many more outfits with. I knew I didn't want over the knee, I think that trend will die out rather quickly and I don't particularly like it. I just wanted simple riding style boots, and although I had to dig a bit because of the season and everything being picked over, I did find a pair that is nearly perfect. Sorry if the picture is a bit fuzzy, I'm sure you'll see them again very soon in a WIW post
After I found my boots, I had a couple other items on my list - a nice silky/satiny nightgown or robe, and a plaid shirt to replace the one I have since it has a hole in one sleeve and I can only wear it with another layer over it. (In those conversations of "how much wear do you allow" my tolerance is extremely high, since I don't shop often or spend much when I do!) I'll spare you pics of me in the nighty. I couldn't find a plaid shirt that really grabbed me (or one that was under $36, which is way too expensive for my budget!), so I struck out on that.
My last objective was to shop the clearance racks, not looking for any particular items from my list, but to see what caught my attention. I had set a limit of $50 for these purchases, and since I was shopping at Kohls, I felt pretty confident I would find a few things - of course I did!
Possibly my favorite find of the day was a cotton-candy-pink top with a sheer lace overlay and sweetheart neckline underneath. I can't wait to wear it with an a-line skirt and some nude heels. I also found a great pair of faux leather pants, they have a fun inside panel that makes them look very equestrian. I used to ride dessage, so these are dear to me, especially since I have been wanting a pair of faux leather pants for a while. I found a *very bright* hot pink tank top, I think it will be fun to layer under a black lace top, and also a nice addition to my summer wardrobe. My phone actually had trouble taking the picture, it is so bright! Last is this floral tunic. It has some scrunching on the sides, and a scoop neck. I can see this being worn mostly for weekend over leggings, as in this picture, but it could also be tucked into a skirt for a vintage look. (The belt I have on in that picture is one that I got from my mother in law for my birthday, not something acquired while shopping.) Oh, I did forget one item! I found this great skinny black belt with gold details It is perfect for wearing at my natural waist, and I love it because ALL of my other skinny belts have silver, and aren't small enough to be worn this high unless I knot them instead of using the actual buckles.
So those are my most recent purchases. I feel like they fit well with my style as it is now, as I wish it to be, and as it evolves and is refined.
What do you think? Does anything stand out to you not fitting with my style, or something I should have left on the rack? I'd love to hear your opinions
