This is a typical birding trip in the high desert in winter. These pictures are from my cell phone.
Driving out, in the rain.
The mountains are spectacular.
The reservoir is frozen.
A peacock! It's not going on our bird list - it's not a wild bird.
Sorry, such a bad picture - a great horned owl in the center - the pair was on private property and we couldn't go closer.
Wild turkeys! They're kind of aggressive.
It was really muddy.
We also saw Mountain Bluebirds, dozens of Red Tail Hawks, Ferruginous Hawks, and a Rough Legged Hawk.
