I think it depends upon where you live and what the social conventions are. Here in Australia, they are not worn, I don't think I have even seen them on sale in swimwear stores. Definitely not a look for the faint hearted!

Not for faint hearted or people with bodies like mine. ...... maybe yes for a teen or twenty year old.
My bikini days are long over. Heck- i’ m struggling with the fact my bathing suit days might be over ( giggle)
