Or at least I like these better than any hiking pants I've ever owned. It may be just that they happen to fit my current shape very well, but when I first tried them on I kept looking at them in the dressing room mirror to make sure I wasn't seeing things. And then I went back and bought two more pairs a couple weeks later (another olive green and a black) just in case Columbia ever stops making them. They're City Slickerz Roll-Up Pant. They're the usual soft comfortable quick-dry technical fabric, comfortable enough to be pajamas. But I think they dress up well enough to work great on a trip where you're packing light and need them to do double duty.

Photos 1 and 2 are styled for city walking and going out. Photos 3 and 4, for a cool-weather hike. And photos 5 and 6 are for a desert hike--looking at those last two I think I'd choose a close-fitting technical t-shirt instead and probably sandals, that is, if I was concerned what the rattlesnakes thought of my look. Photographs are by my very tolerant daughter.

So what do you think? Can I get away with wearing these pants in the city? And what else should I do with these new Jambu Sugar wedges?
