Best deal (non thrifted)

I often shop at a store here in Canada called Jacob. I find they offer a good fit for my body type. So last week I was checking out the outlet store when I noticed a sale rack with white button downs.since I was looking to replace mine I thought I'd check it out. I found one in my size that had a cute rounded collar,French cuffs and was the perfect length. It was originally 50.00 marked down to 19.99. Great I thought I'll take it. When I flipped the tag over it was actually marked down further to 4.99! Then when I got to the cash it was on an additional markdown of 60 percent off. I paid 2.30 for it taxes included ! By far the best deal I've ever had on a brand new item . So tell me ,what is your best bargin ever on a non thrifted item ?

Wow. I'm sort of gobsmacked by that price. I don't think I have have ever seen anything to rival that! I honestly don't know what my best non-thrift deal would be.

The truth is, I find out that it's a deal more in the wearing than in the original buying, if you know what I mean. Things turn out to be workhorses that I might not expect. It isn't the number on the price tag so much as the number of times worn and enjoyed that make a true deal to me.

I got Jacob Connexion pants here in the US at a discount store for $9.99. Never heard of the brand before, and never seen it after. My first skinnies, actually.
But my best deal was a Rampage sunflower print rayon sheath yellow sundress from Ross some 20 years ago. $1.49 because it was missing it's string to lace up the back. I bought yellow satin string for about 50 cents.
My sheer stripe olive dolman top I got a few months back at Belk's was $7. I went to exchange the size and found they were then 2 for 1, so got a red one too, essentially making the olive one $3.50.
Oh, and the Roxy shoes on Friday were $6.
I'm sure there are more. I tend to find deals.

Hi! Fun thread! Like Mo, I am a bargain hunter and for me, Ross and Marshalls have been the source of many a treasure. I think I live in a good location for finding deals. I never found amazing deals in NYC.

Most recently, my Unisa leopard heels for $.49 at Ross. Full disclosure--I did have to pay CA state sales tax so the total was a little higher.

It's only a bargain if it's useful and fills a hole so much of my buying is for my sister or friends.

I was looking for heels that weren't metallic so these will work. I realize that they may be an old style but I'm OK w/ that for the price.

Wow! Such a great deal.

I got a dress for something like $4.88 at Loft last spring. White with black dots. Cute shape and nice full skirt. There was only one left on the clearance rack and it was my size.

Great deal. I once ended up getting a button front shirt on clearance from Kohls with a take home price of twenty five cents, but that was after I used a ten dollar 'Kohls bucks' coupon, so that's kinda cheating. Sales seem to be so common here that I practically don't buy anything without a discount or some kind of deal - recently the local Loehmanns was closing, and they had things discounted at 25-30%, which seemed like nothing at all!

I have a pair of black velvet trousers from Old Navy that cost 4.99. I have worn them a lot so the cpw is minuscule. They are years old now and are wearing extremely well.

Can't beat your shirt deal price though.

I remember my "first". In high school I found a Guess denim jacket for $15 marked down from $90. I thought I hit the jackpot and a new obsession for finding deals was born. I do tend to find deals too, so it's hard to remember all of them. Not sure if I ever did less than $5, but probably lots under $10.

A great value via a different route:
A couple years ago I headed to a Red Sox game direct from work and didn't have anything warm to wear. I had to buy a sweatshirt outside Fenway and felt sick that I had to spend $50 on a sweatshirt that I didn't particularly want. At the end of the night, I realized that the couple we went with had drank 6 beers between them. At $8/beer, they spent the same as I did at that game. Except I still am wearing that sweatshirt. (And I always remind myself of this when I'm tempted to get that 2nd/3rd martini.)

I remember my first Inhabit sample sale. Their sweaters retail from $350 up. I walked in and there were no prices listed, so I asked. Everything was $40. I actually got lightheaded.

I found a Rick Owens turtleneck for $25 at Nordstrom Rack, marked down from $250. That was exciting. I don't wear it often because it's too warm, though.

I was shopping for short sleeve tshirts in the offseason (if I recall it was Nov last year) and found 2 on clearance at Nordstrom. One rang up for its right sale price, $12.98 if I remember - but the other one rang up for a penny. The sales person even noticed when she rang it up and told me, "you're getting a great deal on this one!" while giving me an evilish grin. I didn't ask - at $12.98 I was happy, so anything less was just gravy. I was shocked when it was a PENNY, though!
