Best boots?

I want new boots that will be my "go to" shoes with jeans for fall and winter. I am willing to spend the money for good ones but can't decide what kind. I have riding boots and one pair of short Frye boots (Melissa button). I am considering cowboy boots but am not sure they are my style. I am 54yrs old, 5'4" tall and dress casually most days. Any thoughts?

If you are looking for cowboy style boots, try to find a boot store in your area. They are VERY knowledgeable about materials, fit, brands, etc. and will help you find the perfect fit for your needs.

Frye is my go-to boot brand I'm in my mid-40s, 5'3" and dress smart casually. I think a pair of cowboy-styled boots would be a great addition to your wardrobe--but it'd help if you could post some outfits you're looking to wear with your boots.

I forgot to say I have small calves so the Veronica slouch seems out. I liked the carson pull on or shorties but they seem to be out of my size in most colors, maybe discontinued? Any thoughts on what would look best?

Actually I saw a moto type boot today and wondered about them. Would they read really, really casual? Better or not as good looking as a cowboy boot?

Good question! I've been wearing Dansko clogs as my " go tos" but I'm tired of them. Riding boots are not as comfortable and my Fryes are pretty comfortable but not quite an everyday one.

Hi Lynn,

Have you tried http://www.duo.com ? They have narrow boots. Also, if you do find a pair you like, most shoe repair places can narrow the calf if it has a full zip.

I will admit that my cowboy boots with the riding heel are the most comfortable pair of shoes outside of sneakers I have ever owned. However, I have high arches and the placement and height of a true western riding heel can't be beat for my foot shape. They look great under bootcut jeans and slacks--- however wearing them with skirts depends on your style and the area where you live. It can be kitschy.

Thank you Elly! I don't think I'm the cowboy boot/skirt kind of person. I just want something that feels fabulous to my feet and back and still looks stylish, mostly with jeans.

If you're planning to wear them just under jeans have you considered the short ones like Frye Billy' Shooties? I got a similar pair (Clarks in grey and I can't find them online right now)
