Julie, I'm like you- I love paying attention to the red carpet. I tend to have very strong opinions, so I've always kept them off YLF before. In fact, since I was 19 or so, I've usually sent out an email (well, now it's evolved into a PDF with photos) to friends and family (anyone who's interested in celebrities) the day after the Oscars with all my thoughts. It's can be very, very blunt. Basically, I sometimes think that I should have started Go Fug Yourself
I'm with Maya on Audrey Tatou- she is divine, with oodles of style and charisma. (Much more, imo, than Carey Mulligan, who I think is completely overrated.) The only thing I didn't like about her dress was the colour- but then, I'm not a pink girl. Maybe if it had been a brighter pink.
Rute, I also loved Rebecca Hall's dress! Stunning and very flattering. I also liked Romola Garai- I like a short dress for awards shows, because I think it says "I don't take myself too seriously". I loved Bonnie's dress, but it would have suited her better in a different colour.
On the flip side, I hate anything that looks overly princessy or too 90's glamourpuss.
I thought Claire Danes and Vera Farmiga both looked like they were wearing sad noughties rejects. Also, couldn't Kristin Stewart have done something about her horrible hair, at least for one night?
Ooops- told you I was mean!
