Going back and reading Angie's blog posts from last year, I became enchanted with the idea of having a suit custom-made while we are in Hong Kong! Especially since this is the one item I am having zero luck finding (and we're going on several years now with that hunt). The timing would be perfect, considering I need that suit for the November conference.
Yes it's a splurge, but I am getting to that point where I would be very happy to have one perfect suit rather than several that fit poorly and aren't quite what I want. So I am seriously entertaining this idea!
All weekend I've been doing my research and one tailor comes up highly recommended: Chan's, specifically, Irene Fashions, their division that is specifically for women. But I'm open to any and all suggestions!
And I also need suggestions on what type of suit to go for. I have in mind:
- single button
- hit high on the hip
- banded waist (most of my jackets have this feature)
- slacks similar to the AT ones I just bought, and not lined (this is not for winter)
But I'm clueless as to what kind of fabric. I don't know much about suiting fabrics, and I understand this is where the costs come in? I don't want to go too crazy here.
And I also can't decide whether it makes more sense to stick with basic black, go with charcoal, or a pinstripe.
There are apparently another million details about choosing a suit... and I'm clueless! I know we have many YLFers who wear suits daily - please help me figure this out before October.
