And here's the scoop:
Berlin 2011 YLF Get-Together
The morning found me a bundle of nerves. Why hadn’t I brought something better to wear? Why hadn’t I been to the hairdresser? Done my nails? And what if I couldn’t recognize anyone?
My trepidation soon disappeared when sunny Astrid arrived at our meeting point, looking even more beautiful than her pictures. She radiates happiness and confidence, and wore a stunning black tulip skirt topped with a bright tangerine T and blue and white scarf that set off her lovely eyes beautifully.
Joha arrived minutes later in a striped navy and cream top from Zara, black leggings, and a magenta coat. Readers, do not be deceived by Joha’s modest presence on the forum. She is a fun, extroverted collector of HATS that I am dying to see, and she epitomizes the one and only YLF rule: have fun with fashion! Even though she left home at 7 and was enroute to Hanover to catch a flight to London, she looked fresh and exuded a happy energy. Joha rocks one of the best pairs of glasses I have EVER seen. They are midnight blue Persols, with fantastic reflection free lenses that are absolutely invisible, leaving her beautiful brown eyes perfectly framed by blue. Stunning!
Scarlet came straight from work, a poster girl for Team Neautral and Team Elegant. She wore a lovely cream raw-edged ruffle fronted sleeveless blouse under a fitted mocha jacket, with gold accessories, including Ray-Ban sunglasses, that set off her lovely mane. Her outfit was a lovely contrast of textures; sheer with solid, soft with fitted. And she rocked a pair of flat summer boots that had “Angie” written all over them!
We enjoyed a chatty lunch at an Italian restaurant that Astrid recommended, and only just remembered to fit in a photo before we headed down the impressive Freidrich Strabe, on which stores like Cos and Zara share the boulevard with Armani, Max Mara, and (gasp) Parisian giant Gallery La Fayette.
Joha was drawn to the brights in H&M, but held off in anticipation of her London trip; Astrid’s white jacket was returned to Espirit as per the forum discusssion, and a teal bag I had been admiring got the thumbs up and joined our happy party. Scarlet introduced us to Max & Co, the diffusion label of Max Mara, where lots of nude, blush, and grey adorned the New Season racks.
Alas, our lovely afternoon had to end at 3. Joha caught her train to the airport, Scarlet headed back to the office, Astrid returned to writing her paper on Scandinavian literature, and I returned to my family. I was delighted and inspired, and felt thrilled to be a part of this wonderful community. Thank-you, Angie and Greg, for making this inspirational and supportive community what it is, and thank-you, Scarlet, Astrid, and Joha, for travelling and making the 2011 Berlin meet-up happen!
There is only one picture to show you, unless the participants can post some individual shots….I was the one with the camera, and in the excitement, it stayed in my bag and was not seen again!
Note to self: keep camera handy at YLF meet-ups :).
