Bendigo street style!

Today I saw something you don't see every day (or at all) in downtown Bendigo. We went for a walk and lunch at the lake today (it's a public holiday) and we walked passed a very cool couple. He caught my eye! He was wearing black leather knee length shorts (beautifully cut with some subtle detail) with a black tee and the most awesome plain black leather calf height boots. His hair was shoulder length, wavy and silver (guess his age to be 50ish).

I so wished I had my camera. I wanted to talk to him and find out who he was and what he does...artist, designer...car salesman lol.

This guy was totally defying the cultural norm for men in my town. I thought he looked fantastic. It was very Rick Owens:).

After they walked past, DH commented it was a bit warm for leather shorts! I proceeded to explain how fab the look was but he didn't see it lol.

I will be keeping an eye open for him around town now.

Oh, I wish I could have seen it! Even here, men are not that experimental with fashion... I cannot even get DH to wear boots. o_0 It would be cool to have some Men of the World in leather shorts walking about to inspire.

You did a great job describing him. I can picture him. And I love that he was not a youngster, it gives me heart.

This past summer I had the coolest table of people from Australia. They wore mostly black and had very pale skin and dark hair. But they were not Goth. I am trying to remember their outfits exactly, but everyone had an interesting haircut, footwear, and clothing. I seem to recall some long loose black shorts plus chunky boots on the men. Most off all they were kind and lovely. I thought maybe they were musicians, in a band together. 2 women 2 men. Anyway I actually think of them when I see your threads Deborah.

Debs next time maybe you can just approach him and say: "I love your style!" I have said that to people, it usually doesn't go much further than that but I think they appreciate that I get them.

I agree with Denise that he would have been flattered if you had said something, especially the compliment coming from a stylish dresser too
