Belting an empire waist dress? Added pic

Is it fine to belt at a high empire waist line? I know that lyn* belts her dresses all the time and it looks great on her but I can't recall if any of her dresses have empire waists. I don't wear belts that often, perhaps because of my high waist, but I really want to wear them more. Add to the equation an empire dress and I get really nervous lol!
This is the fabulous multi buckle belt Heather sent me on Halloween. I may dub it the Halloween belt from here on out
So is this fine, and I can relax, or does it look like the belt is just up too high? Thanks for holding my hand!

I think it looks great, as long as it's comfy... I can't wear belts that high up because it always feels like they're crushing my rib cage.

Thanks ladies. As long as it doesn't look weird, I'm good, comfort wise. I really want to cut the silly fabric ties off this dress and give it new life with belt options!

Have you tried a really wide stretchier belt to give the illusion that it's not really an empire waiste?

I think it can be tricky to belt an empire waist dress. You could belt this one a little lower so that the top seam is showing. I dont like the underboob belt but I think it would work if it was a little lower.

Texstyle, I'm a rare belter at best. But I do have this - the widest belt I own. Not sure it's that much thicker. The rest are basically jean belts that are 1 or 1 1/2 inches.

I like it. Belting seems to be really high up now, as opposed to when I used to wear those hip-slung belts back in the day.

I generally think belting at the empire waist (provided one has a great bra on, of course) looks fine.

For this particular dress I prefer the higher belt placement; the under-bust seam followed by the belt has "too much going on" to my eye. But either placement looks smashing; the dark belt against the light dress just screams "look at my mile-long legs". Fabulous!

I like it with the lowered belt in the 3rd pic. I never really liked the super high belts - the always look like a shelf for the bust to me.

I like it all three ways, you have a youthful, high bustline, so I don't think the belt looks like a boob shelf at all. That belt would be great peeking out from a denim jacket!

I prefer the dress with the belt and I think I'm partial to the higher belting. The extra seam distracts me. Folks are all over the map on this one. Interesting.

I'm with Alecia. I like the belt on empire dresses like this to fall in line with the seam. #3 looks off to my eye. I like #1!
