Belt opinions - bow detail

Looking for a brown belt that's not designed just for jeans' belt loops like I have already. This has caught my eye and I'm looking for honest opinions. Is it too much like being giftwrapped or kind of a sweet touch with the bow detail? Mo, I like both the bow detail and the deep chocolate color. A versatile belt! It's sweet, but simple in design.

i like this...and I say that with surprise, lol.

I dont think its too 'sweet' looking. The materials and the way they've styled the bow strike a neat balance.

I'm not familiar with your wardrobe but the pieces you've described sounds like they'd go with this belt well.

I like the bow detail - the fact that it's brown and the bow is a tuxedo style makes it more grown up.

Thanks for the input so far. I tend toward metallic touches and so this is a shift in another direction, which is a good thing! I'm realizing I don't do belts like I should and this could be the right piece to pull together several possible outfits. I just didn't want to look too much like a box wrapped with a bow on it. I like the belt too - I would not immediately think "bow" when I saw it. I'm not usually a bow person, either! The skirt is nice - what is the fabric?

thanks Alaska girl. It's fake suede, whatever the real fashion term is ha ha. Has slight stretch and is wash and wearable. Win - win!

I like the belt. I think as long as you pair it with items that are not too complicated (in other words, not already too embellished on their own), it's a great choice. Have you seen it in person/tried it on? I'm always leery of items that add volume around the waist ever since I purchased a denim skirt that had waist detailing and made me feel like it was adding inches.

Becky, this is one of those blind faith eBay choices. I get a lot of great stuff, but plenty of near misses as well. Overall I have about a 75% success rate and I check out all measurements to help me decide. I think this one is coming home to me. I just hope I can get used to wearing belts as accessories. Baby steps.

lol @ Louise and your 'biased' opinion! Looks great on you. Mine will be a tad thicker - hmmm now I'm wondering if the belt should go over my natural waist with the shirt out over the skirt. Or should I tuck the shirt into the skirt and belt there where they meet? And if I decide to layer a flyaway cardigan does that change the belt positioning? Oh, no. Now I'm seeing why I just didn't do belts before!

I love belting over the top, which I had never done before YLF. Now I belt over blouses and even cardigans often!
