By visible bag do we mean the opening is very visible to the wearer? Something you can keep your eye on? Just confused by the requirement, while I totally understand the other two…
Just being mindful is half the battle I think. It’s so easy to get a bit dumb/out of it in a crowd in a novel environment, when you need to have your wits a bit about you (nothing stressful, just.. awareness). In Paris i carried a good quality (ie/ thick straps and sturdy metal hardware) cross-body messenger bag with a zippered interior and a second removable short hand/shoulder strap (which I never use at home, but had the foresight to put on for this trip!). I wore it on my shoulder more than usual so I could somewhat performatively stick it under my arm when in crowds. We had no incidents but were warned several times by female locals to watch our pockets and bags on the metro and at the market. A belt bag worn across one shoulder would also be a great choice - I saw lots of those and they looked both stylish and confidently secure. For me it wouldn’t have been enough space for our 12-hour walking days in variable weather carrying scarf, hat, umbrella…
