Before and after drastic hair changes

I've pretty much had the same two hairstyles for all of my life and am considering chopping my hair incredibly short. For the sake of inspiration, I thought I'd start a thread where people could post their before and after photos involving major hair changes. Since I have nothing to report as of yet, volunteers are most welcome!

It's REALLY fun going for drastic hair changes. I've done it a few times - from long to short. You are shocked each time you look in the mirror for about a week. And they you can't believe you ever had long hair.

I went from long to short (about 10") a few years back, loved it. Posted before and after photos here. Currently working towards (and almost at) a modified mullet of sorts

I went in stages over about 2 years, having said that the shorter it gets, the better I like it and easier it is to keep it from going AWOL.

Okay don't laugh. I went from bangs then grew out my bangs and then had bangs again. I am quite the risk taker.
Oh yes I got highlights and hated them.

If it works don't fix it. This is what I have learnt.

Me! I just did this and I'm having so much fun with it! I can't wait to play around with the designs.

The before pic is on the left, but that was over six months ago, and the last time I had had a haircut, so my real before was much more grown out, sad and scraggly.

Sorry, I'm not going to post my longer haired pics! It's going to be too much work to crop my children out of them, but it was fun to look at them. A real trip down memory lane! (I had completely forgotten my hair was shoulder length in the back only, for a very short time when I was pregnant with my DD)

Wow, these photos are great. It's really incredible how the right short cut can make eyes pop, even when the previously longer hair was styled nicely. Angie, I find it hard to imagine you with long hair. What made you decide to chop it all off?

Hard to find a pic of me with long hair, as I would end up putting it back in a pathetically thin pony or bun all the time (affectionately called "the Nubbin"). My hair doesn't grow any longer than this. Circa 2003. That's the hubby, before he went gray.

ETA: pic of short hair! This one was taken right after a cut, so professionally styled and all that.

I still think of my hair as long, but I was hanging out with a guy last week who commented on how short my hair was compared to when he met me. So I dug up these old photos to show the change. I'm not sure it's exactly drastic, but even getting a haircut at all was a huge psychological hurdle, and the more recent style felt like a huge change.

1. 2004
2. 2005
3. my first-ever professional haircut, 2005, age 26
4. now, with shorter hair and only covering 3/4 of my head! It's been like this since 2013.

I think the photo against the grey stone structure was after the haircut, but I'm not sure.

Two holiday pictures with similar weather and clothes, one year apart. When I went for a pixie in the past it was never gradually - I always went from at least shoulder length to short.

I think Astrid wins the before/after! It's like you found your real look when you cut your hair short! My current profile pic (wearing a camp sweatshirt around the house, no makeup) is the longest my hair has been in years and years. All of a sudden it's gotten enough weight on top to not drive me absolutely crazy, and I'm curious to see where it goes from here. I've been a short, shorter, and shortest style person forever.

Long and wavy to shorter and blown out. Unfortunately I don't have time/energy/inclination to do a full blowout every day so I'm thinking of growing it out again.

You have an angular face with dramatic eyes. I think you would look really good with a short cut.

My hair is extremely wiry and thick and that's why I've never taken the plunge.
