Yay! We got to see Jonesy's beautiful non-sunglass-obscured face!

Slippery slope here! *Had to say it*

I'm not sure what you mean, Helen? Did I do something wrong :)?

Absolutely not, Jonesy! I am probably way too bold with my opinions. *hangs head* I just noticed a swift gathering of targeted compliments and was predicting the direction of the thread. I have a particular sensitivity to inclusiveness and its opposite. Not one iota of any particular person's fault for my comment other than my own nosy self!

Cool thread, Una! I love seeing everyone's candids and some of the new faces too.
@SuzanneM: You have uber fab hair.
@Jonesy: *waving*

I just tried to post my candid photo from the iPad in the car, but I guess I'll have to wait until I get home on Sunday.

I don't happen to see a thing wrong with people being particularly excited to, for example, see the whole face and lovely eyes of someone we've "known" for a long time but have only seen hiding behind sunglasses.

Jonesy, SO GOOD TO SEE YOU!!!

AAH, Jonesy! I didn't realize you'd posted! It is SO wonderful to see your rock star self all de-shaded! Dang, you photograph wonderfully - I feel like we could have a conversation right through the computer screen.

Kelly! *shoulder bump* High five to my body twin!

Helen, I'm not sure if I understand what you meant. I'm excited to SEE faces to put to the "voices" here and to celebrate them. No false compliments or intent to include/exclude. I feel like some of us, like Mo and Kelly and Mary, post their faces all the time. Others, like me, hide behind hair, props or photoshop, and it's especially exciting to see those ladies at last... and also for me to post a close-up. It's freeing somehow for me to have shown you all my day face. Not my pose face or my hidden face or my carefully chosen face... just ME.

Also didn't intend any pressure to those who are not comfortable posting. If someone asked for candid pictures of our bare feet, I can assure you I would sit that round out.

Imagine what a YLF cruise would be like! The shrieking would be heard round the world.

I'm thrilled to see everybody here, too!

It's true, some of us show our faces all the time, but the "reveals" are pretty exciting!

I took my picture after reading this thread during a little break at work, for a "this is what I really look like all day" picture, but I thought I should put one here with an "at home" look, too.

Parsley, I remember you mentioning that people don't always recognize you outside of work, and now I know why. That's a fascinating idea, actually. Your smile is unmistakable, though! If they could see your edgy hair, it's unforgettable.

ok, this is kind of scary
it's late and everything is flat except my pups
sorry about the t.v.

Una- definitely not glam, is it? Even worse and harder to recognize if I had my mask on!

Loving this thread, Una! It's so fun to see everybody!

I'm also very sensitive to inclusiveness/exclusiveness.

And I actually feel MORE included because of this thread. I rarely wear makeup, and everyone else always apologizes when they post an unmade face. But now I see that y'all really aren't 24/7 made up!

Here's me in my unmade glory. Which is how I am except of very rare occasions!

lynn, bonus points for puppies! You look great! And pups look adorable (the one on the right has that slightly crazed dog look that makes my son laugh).

Hey, Isis, you've got edgy hair too - I would love that cut but don't do well with bangs. You're like a rockin' version of your avatar.

Isis, your hair is what I'd like mine to grow out to be like. Love it!

Una and Parsely, thanks for the hair complements! I just got it cut; more layered and shorter in the back than I've had before.....it's fun to play with hair!

Parsley, I think yours is longer than mine now!

Would you mind posting a view from the side? I may show it to my hairdresser to get her to chop more jaggedness into my bob...

Una, we crossposted just as I was adding a pic from the side!!!!

I can get a better pic with a real camera at home later, if you are interested. My hairdresser cut layers into the sides with a razor after the first cut was done, and my hair was dry....The streaks of different colors also add the illusion of layers....

Una - I just wanna tell you that I have totally LOVED this thread! It's so nice to say "hi" to everybody. You fab ladies are like a second family!

Are you psychic or what?! That's exactly what I'm aiming for...

My hairdresser avoids razor cutting despite my pleas because of the damage she says it does. But if it's only the ends, they'll get trimmed off later anyway, right? Have you noticed any issues? Because your hair looks freaking awesome.

My hairdresser starts by cutting with scissors to get the shape we want and the "closeness" to my head that I like (I have super thick hair and if I let it grow, I get what I call "my mighty hump"!), then she razor trims the ends, and then finishes off with the tiniest scissors I've ever seen and holds them straight up and down and "clips" into the hair in random spots to texturize. Does that make any sense? I get this done every 5 weeks to keep the shape.

Thanks for the hair compliment BTW!

No I haven't noticed issues with damage. But my hairdresser has only been using a razor with this short haircut (the last 2-3 haircuts, 3 months apart), so the ends grow quickly. The overall cut is with scissors, and then the jagged parts on the sides are done with a razor.....My hair is pretty fragile because of all the color, so I hope it doesn't get damaged! The ends were much worse when it was longer though, just because of having longer hair and being colored.

Asymmetry is another fun thing to play with. That's the first thing we tried when I started being more adventurous......you might do that first while your hair is longer and more one length...I'll add a pic of that cut...

My hair is already asymmetrical (long in front, cropped in back), and I'm not sure I could get away with anything more funky for work. Choppiness isn't a problem because it can be brought out or hidden by styling with my straight hair. Thanks for all the advice!

Ah yes, I forgot about work. I was going to suggest wild colors too, but I guess that is not a solution!

I love this thread! It's so nice to see everyone's smiling faces close up! : )

Whoops...ok...that's a bit embarrassing....I posted at the same time as Isis and thought you were talking about my hair...sorry 'bout that! I'll butt out now.

Oh...I sooo cannot participate. I have a terrible cold and GI bug...that would be waaaay to candid ! LOL !

Shannon, actually your post was helpful too! I have the same kind of hair as you, and my hairdresser jokes that it's like fishes and loaves, because it seems like the more she cuts the more there is. Your image of tiny scissors chipping the ends is JUST what I need - I've often thought of doing that myself with nail scissors (how RATE can you get?)...

Shannon, I wondered about the hair too, as yours is pretty AND edgy too! Don't butt out! I have a lot of hair, but each strand is thin....
