Because I might need a suit...

... one day. And I hate scrambling when I do.

Not exactly cheap, but not designer and also on enhanced discount until Sunday. I am majorly in love with the jacket, but I want to make sure about the pants. I sized up for a more fluid/boyish fit, so they sit on my hips and drop the crotch a tad. Please tell me if the crotch looks bad... lightened as much as possible in 2.

Love it. Just viewing from my phone but what I can see looks really sharp. I don't see the usual excess fold and crotch fabric from sizing up. Did you try the smaller size for comparison? Jacket looks perfect.

I think you're all good. I love the slim fit on this suit. I also like your idea of sizing up in the pants they look great with this shoes. I say it's a do!

Awesome suit -- I really like the jacket too. Any way to show us both a size smaller and a size larger?

The size smaller was a no-go for sure. To catwoman-esque because of the bodycon fit in the seat. They didn't have the size larger, but I can tell it would do the dreaded crotch fold that Denise mentioned, so I guess it's these or bust. The pants are the same make and size as my favorite gray ankle zip trousers, so that is a good sign... ? I put it on hold for now.

Great jacket and I love the general cut of the slacks (my favorite as you know). However I am not loving how the fabric ripples on the pant legs, even though I have a couple of pairs that do the same thing in photos. I swear they don't look that way IRL! I too would love to see the smaller size.

Rae I love the jacket but I am unsure of the pants. They look to me that they are not really a design or cut that works when sized up. Looking at your lightened pic they actually look like they might be uncomfortable, and they just don't look quite right to me.

The jacket is great, no question. But I do think that the crotch in the pants looks weird. In fact, I noticed it before you pointed it out (though I didn't know exactly what was weird...all I knew was that something looked off). IMO, if you are looking for a suit, it should be really perfect, because a person only wears suits when it's really important, you know?

Since this isn't designer, maybe the quality control isn't so good, and maybe if you tried on more iterations of the pants in this size and in the smaller size you might find one that fits better, just due to human variance in making garments. That's what I do when I want something to fit and it's close but no cigar.

Well, I just discovered there is a skirt option... maybe that would be better? Or would that look too corporate?

From what I know of your style, the pants are more you. But if the skirt fits better, it might be worth it to get the skirt. Maybe get the skirt and post pics?

I would like to see the skirt. You do skirts and dresses well and would edge it up easily with our footwear.

This is an awesome suit. I am not sure if it will be as edgy with the skirt. My only concern is that this is not a timeless suit. It is a very contemporary look. So if you are buying a suit in case you might need it one day, you might find it already dated when the time comes. If you buy this suit, integrate it into your everyday wear and enjoy it frequently.

Rae, what happens if you have the waist taken in? the pants would still have a more fluid fit on the thighs, but it would probably take care of the droop. i would have alternations pin it and see.

I think the suit is spot on...the jacket amazing and the pants are companionable with the jacket...Don't know about a skirt...doesn't seem to do as well in my mind's eye as the pants...Can't wait to see what you decide..
You are right about needing something like this...never can tell when you will need to be quietly and professionally dressed...good luck..

I think the jacket is awesome, and if you get it, I think you should wear it regardless of if you need to be wearing the whole suit. But I'm not sold on the pants...they just don't fit you in the fab way i've seen clothes fit you in the past. Not sure if it's a size issue or a cut issue, they are just a bit "off". imho.

It looks good to me. Angie told me once that this type of slight crotch whiskering on trousers is inevitable with stretch fabrics on certain body types (I think flat front, curvy rear especially) so I don't worry too much about it.

I personally went for pants for my suit because it makes the footwear situation a million times easier, and you don't have to worry about hose.

I love the jacket on you. I personally don't mind the look of the wiskering. I think the pants look very current. This is very different take on a black suit.

I like the pants more than a skirt, but that is my preference. Would you wear the pants with something else? Why don't you try and see if it works and if they are comfortable on you.

I think it looks pretty great on you.

I don't think I've ever had a pair of trousers that didn't do that thing at the crotch, even sized up. In fact, sometimes sizing up actually seems to exacerbate the issue. Taking the waist in might help.

What is the fabric content, just curious?

The suite looks great, however, I have the same concerns as bella and Ceit since you don't have an immediate use for it. If it's something you think you would wear now than I would get it.

That jacket looks awesome on you! May I ask what brand it is? I wonder if you could have the pants tailored for a perfect fit. If you start wearing the suit to work, they might hire you for upper level management!

You look so great and happy in this I'm not sure if I can find any faults! I know it is a more modern take on a suit but I don't really see it as "trendy" so much that it won't be relevant in a year or two more. And won't you wear the jacket with other things too?

Killer - if the size up was too big. I'm in "size up mode" with almost everyone at the moment Rae, so bear with me. I'd say the suit is just about tailored. A little tighter than tailored on the jacket.

Can you provide the links please, Rae? Is the fabric stretchy? That might account for some crotch point whiskering.

(I LOVE suits).
