@ Irina - last winter I had my slightly layered bob chopped straight across at the nape for what is called a ‘box bob’. I wear it blow dried and flat ironed straight most of the time, but will occasionally do ‘insta waves’. When temps warm up, I get a few layers (that are easy to grow out) cut in and let it air dry curly. No colour. I’m using AG products (special love for ‘set it straight’ argan straightening balm) and Marc Anthony products (the entire ‘strictly curls’ line) since they are both MADE IN CANADA. I’m still seeing this super short bob on runway and product photo models, and it is easy to manage with my 3xweek swimming habit. I switch up my part left/right, and very occasionally in the middle and pretend I’m trendy!
I’ve been frustrated that my favourite hair clips and barrettes don’t seem to be made any longer. They’ve just completely disappeared off the shelves! The ones I find available now are hard for me to manipulate due to some finger/hand issues.
In 2020 I discovered a skincare line called Riversol at my pharmacy. It’s from a BC dermatologist and MADE IN CANADA. Spendy (very!) but I wait for customer appreciation days or senior discount days and get it 25-20% off. A little goes a long way, and I find it lasts a long time. I’ve ‘panned’ all my skincare products and now use only Cereve (face wash and body moisturizer) and Riversol serum and moisturizers.
I get my brows and lashes tinted every 6-8 weeks, and keep a natural full brow. I’m finding that the ends are thinning out or gone(!) so I use a brow pencil to fill in the ‘tail’, and I use mascara on my lashes.
I’m looking for a lip product that is shiny/sheer - with a bit of light pink colour. I tried a lip balm that gave me just the look I wanted, but I hated the smell/taste. I’m currently using Clinique Pink Honey, but it’s not quite right. My lips are thin, and my upper lip has an indistinct shape. I just want a hint of colour and some shine. Still on the lookout for this HEWI. For special occasions I use a Marcelle sheer tint moisturizer MADE IN CANADA. It is SPF 30, hypoallergenic, fragrance free, oil free, and non comedogenic.
Most products irritate my lids, and I’m prone to Rosecea and dermatitis. The Roseacea is miraculously in remission due to topical ivermectin (dermatologist prescribed), and I haven’t had a dermatitis flare in a long while (fingers crossed). I’ll do a very minimal smoky eye with a bit of colour on the outer upper lid, just above the lash line. I take my makeup inspiration from women with my colouring. I look at the young’uns, but mostly women closer to my age and stage in life.)
Mani’s for the past year have been more about hand and nail TLC with buffed nails instead of polish. I want to do colourful pedis when it warms up, though.
