I sincerely tried to resist this (great condition) beaded bag in the $2/pound place by my office. But when it was inexplicably still there two days later I felt the need to give it a home. Yet, even though I am not especially afraid of either boho or pattern mixing, it’s still kind of hard to figure out what to wear with it. Thoughts?

Great bag! The limit, to my mind, is simply when it is is functional. If it holds what you need, wear it with anything. I would particularly wear it with a relatively simple outfit - it actually contains a few neutral colors and would work with any outfits based on those. Or really any outfit that contains one of the colors in the bag would be fun choice.

I seem to recall you have a lot of black, grey and white stuff. All that would go. And like Jaime says--matching a color in the bag. With any green clothes! That would be pretty.

Also probably good with different textures--linen, velvet.

That is an amazing score!

It kind of reminds me of Native American (specifically Plains Indian) beadwork. I wonder how it would work in kind of a Ralph Lauren American West type of ensemble.

It also looks kind of old timey Victorian if I tilt my head the other direction (metaphorically). So maybe with a high necked lacy blouse and, idk, jeans and motorcycle boots for some juxtaposition?

Very cool find! Great job researching it too. I tend to agree with Jamie that an outfit of neutrals is an easy win - think juxtaposition with jeans and a tee shirt, but a slightly dressier/more interesting shoe (doesn’t have to coordinate with the bag just support it on a similar level of interest…)

Oh also to note, I have a second hand beaded bag out on display in my bedroom just because I enjoy looking at it - I have yet to use it in an outfit.

That’s really cute. I bought a similar beaded bag on a whim in Mexico years ago and only used it once. It just wasn’t for me, style or function-wise. I gave it to a friend for whom it’s more of a slam dunk style thing (she also has two of my other old bags!).

OK, we’re trying this! Thanks so much for all the ideas, especially the Victorian-esque concept, which would not have occurred to me and I’m not sure I have the pieces to execute it but I love the thought. My other conclusion is I need a good denim skirt for this and other reasons.
Anyway, heading out to see teenage niece, who is a good audience for thrift brags. Blue linen dress that is darker than the blue in the bag, my grandmother’s crystal beads that are sort of a similar green, and trying to make this necklace layering thing work even though most of my umpteen necklaces really feel more like stand-alone items.

That’s a great bag. I like the way you are wearing it. I think you could wear it with any of the colours in the bag. Also denim. I’d wear it with flares or wide leg denim. Or a denim skirt.

Beautiful beaded bag that was waiting for you. I like how you've styled it with a column of blue here and I think it would be lovely paired with an all white or all black outfit too. Solids really let this bag be the star of the outfit!
