My parents, in their 80s now, still enjoy an occasional afternoon at the beach. They have to be super careful about the sun though. They spray their legs like crazy and still drape beach towels over themselves when they sit down. I’d like to give them lightweight, sunptotective clothing to wear at the beach.

For Mom it’s a little easier than for Dad, but I’d love suggestions for either of them. They don’t need to able wear them into the water, just sit and enjoy a beach read, maybe do a very little bit of beach combing and look good doing it. They pretty much have my coloring, but with white hair. He used to be 6’1”, is now 5’8”. She’s shorter than she used to be too, and more apple shaped. She likes long skirts—got one for herself, then decided it looked silly at her height, and then gave it to me at least twice when I was 2” taller than her, maybe more. Now a long skirt would be good for sun safety, but it needs to look good too.

Any suggestions of what to get them in the US would be appreciated.

ETA There we’re several good threads on sun protection earlier this year, but I still can’t figure out what styles would for either of them, don’t even know if maxi dress or long skirt would be better for her. And what kind of pants are easy to pull on & off over a swimsuit for him?
